I always wonder about yet another piece of gear - AKA another variable - introduced into the signal train when testing items.... YMMV

How do you go about getting an optimal match? I have three different brands used in my system. Does that matter?

It doesn't matter if you use same brand gear or a mixture of brands. They all have different sound signatures. We know that most of the Carver amps sound different from one another depending on the model and/or series.

For me, I prefer a sound with a detailed and extended top end while remaining smooth, as well as a midrange that's natural with just a bit of warmth and weight to it. Yet, my speakers are known for being just a bit light in the lower midrange and definitely a little bright with the wrong gear. So my preference actually helps "cancel out" the sound signature of the speakers so to speak.

To reach that sort of sound, I research equipment that have that kind of sound signature. This is why the past few amps I've had all had those traits, such as the Monarchy Audio SM-70 Pro, Odyssey Audio Khartago Kismet, Wyred 4 Sound ST-250, and now, the wonderful Carver M-500t MkII. All known for a full, natural sound with a little warmth or tube-ish sound.

Same is true for the choice I made on interconnects and speaker cables. Preamps tend to have even more influence on the sound than even cables and amps. The only other piece of equipment that has more influence are the speakers themselves.

Should System Synergy get it's own topic and be separated from Fuses?  Think (Otherwise Fuses have nothing to do with System Synergy)? Is this a 'technical' topic?

Thanks Perry, Could have used one of these today!  (Sunday shoot-out comparing Mac Pre and C-1 BillD by wrf and a Krell against  an MKIIOpt2 by Hashy).

Has anyone any experience with one of these?  (Can I borror it? ;-)

Is it worth the $999? I've seen switches for speakers - but this is the full monty.  Any alternatives?

Check out the Niles Audio VSA-1 Direct Video /Audio Patching System.
This is a passive unit/no power supply, to have to deal with any added hum or distortion.
There's one on E-Bay for approx. $40.00

Yes, we've gone a bit off topic, but no, I don't consider "Audio Grade" fuses to be a technical topic.

Even if I wanted to move the 'off topic' posts on "system synergy" and "ABX comparators" it would be messy as many have been quoted already. I have locked this thread for the time being. If you wish to discuss those off topics further please create new threads.

I appreciate that y'all recognized that you had drifted off topic. Thanks!

As the OP, I have no issue with the topic drift on this thread.

I just couldn't believe that after a turbine hundreds of miles away initiates electrons moving through hundreds of miles of aluminum cable, then hundreds of feet of solid copper wire (NON OFC I might add!), then a simple friction plug/recepticle contact, THEN we are to believe that an "audio grade" fuse will make a "night and day" sonic improvement In the electrons that are rectified to DC, filtered by capacitors, amplified, and sent to speakers?

This thread should have been in "way off scale/lol"...

Although, I suppose if some people's expectation bias is such that it improves their enjoyment, why the hell not;-)

Audiophool fuses don't really do the job without the 'Quantum Chip' stickers installed.
