From what I understand, individual components values change slightly as they heat up to their peak operating temperatures, and at different rates. Different values will shift the overall sound some. Just as an alternator in a vehicle starts off cold producing 14.4 volts, only to drop down to around 13.8 volts when fully up to temp.

One reason why I leave my system up and running 24/7.

Audio Research installed  EH2015 6922s in my LS5. They are nice, but the vintage Amperex BB 6922s are so much better.  I have tubes from Kevin that I need to roll from the vintage set, but I have noticed subtle changes between the EH and the BBs. Glad to have Kevin's expertise at hand to guide. Thumb up

Bob mentioned that the EH 12AX7 was the closest current production tube to the vintage Telefunken (as they apply to the 350s)..

Then, you now have tube-rolling between the vintage Telefunkens and the new EHs and get your ears to decide which ones you like better. Very nice.

I always had better luck with old NOS military tubes. Or even some NOS Valvo E88CC tubes.
