So why only the Grado cans? Not enough oomph for the other cans?

Chops,

It is a strange thing really. ONLY the Grados will play on the amp, and they sound really good (so far). But now the 400S just makes a sort of ticking sound when connected, so I quickly gave up that idea. The 400S plays beautifully on my Xenos headphone amp, but I am convinved that it could sound even better with another amp.
I am still playing around with the bi-ass  (heh heh couldn't resist) setting for the SS output, and that may be key.

Very odd. I've never heard of a single amp doing that with any particular headphones before. Hopefully you get it figured out and get that "bi-ass" dialed in to let it play nice with the 400S.

So I will shorten this just incase of a crash.

1) Grado 225e overall favorites, but only with the right source and music.

2) HF Man 600S has best bass and soundstage, but still wants the 'right amp'. (Got one on order now).

3) Even HA1 is best used for TV listening. Too much bass, not enough treble.

Headphone amp: Still working on it to get most potential. Output bias seems closer now, but still not there.
