Now that you've voted snow I realize this poll is worthless; many of the choices SWAMP the others eh? perhaps I should break this up into two polls (one for things like speakers/room placement/amplifiers, and another for ICs/binding posts/speaker cable) ???
Enjoy!

Well probally a poll between Speaker cables vs IC's and or room placement may be more fair. Speakers, Amp, Preamp, Source May fit better together, your choice though.

I'd say speakers in my case.

I agree that having "speakers" in the poll makes it hard to choose any other category, so I voted as if speakers was not one of the choices.

For my main system, amplification made the biggest impact -- specifically, bi-amplification with an active crossover. It really sorts things out nicely, increases the clarity; particularly noticeable as you increase the volume.

There is no question that the AL-IIIs made the most profound positive change to my system. Certainly next was the Sunfire 400 ~ seven amplifier.
It should sound like it isn't there.
There is a difference between hearing and listening...
Making life enjoyable through expensive electronics.

I was going to say speakers . I have the A-III,s and ALS,s......But I don't have the proper amplification as of yet . But I can say that when I replaced my Parasound AVC 1800 with a Sunfire TGP II.....I think THAT was the biggest change so far . Im sure when I get either the 7T,s or a Sunfire amp , then it will all change....Party!

My answer would depend on WHEN I answer it. 6 months ago, I would have said the my new CDP made the biggest sound improvement. Now, I would definitely say that introducing the Carver M1.0t has made the biggest change. You were correct, Rich. Upgrading to separate power amp (over receiver or integrated) has definitely improved the soundstage, clarity and "punch" in my system.

So, right now, I will answer "amplifier".

I said speakers because I had my Sunfire gear hooked up to a pair of cheap Sinclair Audio speakers.

From the Denon to the Sunfire made a big difference even with the cheap speakers......

But when I finished my arrays and hooked them up.......WOW......night and day!

My Denon went to my father inlaw.........He uses it with B&Ws.....he likes it..o:)
