Russ Kall, one of our more infamous past members has gotten active with an eBay auction for parts to be used in an M-1.0t mk II upgrade.  He's offering a board that implements the bias modification of a mk II.  Please note that this board was conceived, designed, built and tested by our own Dennis Miller.  The board Russ is offering is a knock off of Dennis's board. It is a copy of Dennis's work done without his permission or knowledge.  Dennis is not involved.  Russ does not acknowledge the contribution Dennis has made.  Purchase at your own risk.

Russ may be planning to sell mk II units on eBay again.  Please be aware that Dennis, Greg and myself, have refurbished over a dozen failed Kall amps.  All were filled with counterfeit transistors.  He didn't load test any of these amps. They would have failed on the bench under load.  He has also refused to respond to support requests from the owners.  In each of the five amps I have refurbished, the owner claimed to have attempted to contact Russ but was ignored.  I know the wait can be long for a mk II, but you will be better off avoiding an amp from Russ.

It is not my intent to revive the Russ Kall bashing of the past.  My only intent is to let people know that the bias board he is offering on eBay is a knock off of a site member.  Further, you need to be aware of the poor reliability and support history of his previous mk II upgrades.

Thank you sir for the heads up.  While I am  not bidding on that particular item, I appreciate that others are watching and providing additional information regarding ebay items to other members.  Also, I am not familiar with this particular individual, would it be possible to provide his ebay ID?  Or is that something that would be violating the forum rules?  (For this and any future ebay items.)

It was my understanding he was out of the country for at least a year on a work assignment. So it depends on when he got back as far as reaching him.

I have two of his amp, one which failed last November. I didn't like the workmanship when I looked under the cover and could see the short cuts taken among a few other things. I have to say thank you to Dennis again for taking on the repair of the failed one (M1.0t mkII opt002). He brought it back to life and I'm loving it.

The board Wayne mentioned, Dennis installed as part of the repair and it makes the whole opt002 upgrade look very clean. A big shout out to Dennis for his design.

Thumbs up to Dennis, maybe a joint effort between Dennis and les (circuits and concepts) to make these available to those doing upgrades. I trust the work of both of these members!

I also have an extra board that Dennis made for the c-1 gundry dip for SH, I was thinking of adding it to my newly aquired karma c-9! But it will be after other projects are done!

I do not wish to get into the past about Russ, I do choose to steer away from his auctions!

Les does not need to be involved in our Dev work. Dennis, Wayne and myself have the expertise and resources to provide parts, modifications and custom boards.

We have not gone 'commercial' with our designs and parts for various reasons that I will not get into at this time, but this may all change once the new site is up and running.

The purpose of this thread was to warn Carver site members about a particular problem.

Why don't we start a new STICKY thread with the products designed/built by Dennis and the other techs and provide a link to it from this thread.

I own two Russ Kall 1.0t amps. It was those amps, and googling to see what I had, that brought me here. Rich was very helpful in showing me what was prone to failure, and guiding me to the fix. Both of mine are now up to rich's standard.

there is a reason the wait is so long... think about it - do you really want to eat at a restaraunt that has no waiting on a Saturday night?
Theater room: Marantz 7005, 2x 1.0t mkII to Infinity Kappa 9s, 1.0t mkII bi-amped to Klipsch RC7 (I know, WAY overkill), A 705x to Klipsch RS7s surrounds, and Klipsch RS7s back. Velodyne DD12, ProJect RPM 1.3 into ProJect tube box S, Oppo BDP 105 & 95, Woo WA6 tube headphone amp, Sony Playstation 3, and Sharp Aquious 70". 2 channel system: Original Bill D C1, Silver 9t mono blocks, Infinity Kappa 9s, and Oppo 95.

Amp test/"mini" system: B-Man C1 (Remote volume), Whatever amp I'm testing, Klipsch RF7 pair, Carver 490t (Gene C refurb).

Once again I'm struck by the cohesion of this community, the magnanimity of a great number of its members, and the brotherly camaraderie shared among all who are active here. CarverSite! has been a class act for years.
