Wright Electric's goal, detailed in a presentation given to potential investors on Tuesday, is to make all short-haul flights electric-powered within the next 20 years, which would be about 30% of all flights made globally.

Add Solar capabilities, and this can be further accelerated. Cool.

Very cool L_t.

It's certainly a start. 300 miles is dismal and that really means 200 in harsh environments. Kinda like the Tesla. 300-400 miles under ideal conditions. Really 200 here in Pittsburgh with hills and weather.

Battery technology is always the Limfac (for now). Like you said, solar would be fantastic if they could integrate it. Musk's acquisition of Solar city may be onto something but I think he did it to sell the carbon credits to the big boys to stave off bankruptcy. Love the technology though.

In any event, exciting times ahead as technology continues to evolve.

Fire and other issues would require changes at airports and in the air. A hybrid (Gas/Electric) may be an option, if the batteries solely cannot provide enough distance. Domestic flights and short commuter flights are the best candidates.Weight and re-charging is also an interesting problem to solve.

Perhaps quick-swappable battery banks of these?
