My SL-Q2 had some deep scratches on the front base so I went for a better look.

First attempt turned out o.k. I'll do it again when I have some sharp blades.

This stuff only cost me $6 for 12" x 50" roll and it's easily removable or can heated for a more permanent application. This is 3D matt black. I'm thinking about gray or silver but I like this as well.

It also has a up-graded main platter that looks almost new. Cool

There are now two system of high fidelity, monophonic (monaural) and stereophonic. Monophonic is a system that starts from one microphone and is fed through a single high fidelity set. Stereophonic is a double system. Two separate microphones are placed at different sides of the orchestra and two different systems are used to keep the two signals or channels separated. Two separate speakersare used, placed on different sides of you room. Stereo is much like 3-D photography, two slightly different sound reach your ears giving you a new dimension in sound.

I found some better looking paper that looks like black oak veneer for only $10.

I'll be changing to that soon. It's just way better looking and this time I'll remove the bottom feet and plate to tuck the extra paper under it and out of sight.

Anyone know if the writing on the front black strip of Technics tables can be polished without ruining the writing on it?

It looks like the writing is under the black strip but I need some verification before I try to polish it.

Got my SL-Q2 platter looking great with colgate toothpaste and a brush then a soft cloth. Looks like it's new and I'm hoping I can do the same thing to the tables black strip.
 Big Grin
Thanks guys.

The white ink is printed by silk screen on top of a black trim panel, however, the unit probably came from the factory with a clear plastic protective overlay that most people remove after setup. If the protective strip is still in place you can remove it to reveal the factory finish, or clean it with water and a few drops of dish soap or Simple Green. If the protective strip has been removed you can use the same water + soap solution to clean the inlay strip, just don't scrub it very hard, and stop if the white ink starts bleeding.
