  1. thanks! the speakers are KLH virtuoso 6V. i havnt noticed any reflections or reverb yet, good idea though. that wall is short and ends right about where the picture cuts it off.
  2. thanks! the cart i was referring to is the stand i have everything on. it was rusty and crusty, but i wire wheeled it, lowered the middle shelf and painted it black. the TT was my dads. it is a Denon dp-2550 which has a DP-2000 direct drive and the tonearm is an Infinity black widow with an Ortofon super OM20 cartridge.
  3. Serial is 586 I think In person it looks like your third pic. It is black, just not as dark of a black as the other components. Definitely darker than the second pic of the c-1. Have you seen (not sure if that pic is yours) that c-11 next to newer black pieces? Do they usually match?
  4. Same but black. And I think the sonic holography was updated.
  5. so my last post was about my ct-17 not working. ill try and do a recap in the future but for now i found a c-11. seller said everything worked great, but when i turn it on, the volume is low for about 30 seconds until something warms up. then it makes a few crackles and kicks in and sound gets normal and sounds great. also, if sonic holography is on i only get sound from the right side. also a little disappointed that the black is different than my other components, but still better than silver. so anyway with those issues aside and figuring out how to adjust the speed on the denon turntable it sounds amazing! here a few pics and a video. i found that cart which was rusty and crusty out with someones trash last week! video: oh, and thanks to this forum, i got a new belt and easily installed it so my cd player opens a closes again! I ordered couple extra so as a thank you, if any members break a belt, message me and ill send you one for free
  6. So the guy with the c-11 still has it, but is getting back to me later. I think I should listen to the experience here and go with that one. (I'm not going to lie, just going by appearance it looks like a step down but I'm a new and don't really need all the fancy digital stuff) In the meantime here are a couple bad low light pics of my klh virtuoso 6v speakers. I can't really find much info on them. They also came with this box, not sure if I need it or even what it does lol.
  7. Thank you! Sure enough the belt was shot. I was able to get a disc in and wired the CD directly to the amp. It sounds amazing! Now I am extra excited to get a new pre-amp! Thanks everyone for all the advice already and the warm welcome!
  8. Thank you for your advice. Any idea what a fair price for a working c-11 would be currently? I found one listed (not even sure if he would ship) but wants $250. That sound normal? (jump or be patient)
  9. Thanks. Honestly, I thought maybe I was silly but having a silver component in this set would keep me up at night lol. I have been browsing all the carver pre-amp on eBay, would I be nuts to get another ct-17? There is a seller on there that has one that says everything works perfectly. I am tempted to keep it how my dad set it up. Are c-11 models rare? I don't see a single one for sale.
  10. Hello everyone! Im Vin, live on Long Island and just set up my dads old Carver stereo My dad passed back in 94 back when i was 17. I remember how proud he was of his Carver, cranking Led Zep on the speakers or sitting on the floor in the den with sony studio headphones on so loud i could hear it in my bedroom. after he passed, it was packed up for a few years after we moved back east. eventually my mom asked me to set it up for her (probably 15 years ago). at that time the input selectors started to go. everything lights up, but sound would only come out of one (i cant remember which one, maybe AUX) so as a cheap fix i got her some sort of rca selector box at radioshack so she could manually switch from TV, cd, vcr and have them all go through the working AUX. a few years after that, she split with her boyfriend, packed up the system and said i could have it. it remained boxed up because i didnt have a place to use it in my small house with a living room so small, when i bought it 11 years ago, i hung the tv on the wall and setup my cable box and dvd in the basement with IR repeaters so i didnt lose the space of an entertainment center. well, until a few months ago, my mother in law was living in the basement, she is out and somehow the room started turning into a music room all by itself. scored a drum set and my 5yo loves it. my 9yo is getting into guitar and violin so naturally i have been itching to set up the system. components: SD/A-490t CD player CT-17 Preamplifier tuner TFM-25 amplifier Denon DP-2000 turntable and a pair of Black Lacquer KLH Virtuoso speakers. model 6V so as i am sure you suspected by the sad face in the beginning, i have problems. pretty sure it is the PreAmp, but i will post more on that in the appropriate section. hope you weren't too bored with my backstory, i didnt expect to type all that lol. hope to be soon,
