Overview
About This Sound Room
CarverFest is an annual get together of fellow Carver Sunfire and Phase Linear Audiophiles.
CarverFest began in 2007 by Tom Trietz & James Sauter, and has been held every year since, in the Great Smokey Mountains of NC. There were 14 attendees that first year including Tom, James, Ray Campbell, Dave Sauter, Gary Gore and his son, Pam Klevenger, Skip Foley and Tim Hall, Mark Lucas. Help identifying the other four would be appreciated. We hope to be able to add a picture of some of the first group soon.

When I was a participant years ago with a jet ski club that made an annual trip down the Michigan shoreline and collected donations for the leader Dogs school near Detroit. Every year we had both types of shirts available. T’s and Polo’s That way people had a couple choices. Don’t know how much of a problem it would be to offer that being it is a special year. I’m still the Concert T-shirt kinda guy. And possibly a sublimation process would make a better print?
-
AJ, I thought about that, too. A more "mature" shirt of some kind. I'll leave it up to the gang. Maybe I can run a poll here on the site to get the design input. I'll put something together. As an aside, Jim had made some t-shirts back when he was still running the Carver business. I bought a couple and wore one to Carverfest 2 years ago and one to Axpona. Nice shirts. Lots of people wondered where I got them. I think there'd be a demand for Carver t-shirts even outside of Carverfest- here on this site and the FB site. Not a huge demand. And, I'm not really wanting to get into the t-shirt making business. But, maybe we could make up a batch and sell them at a little profit which would help finance the site? Just an idea.

General Discussion - CarverFest 2026

On the other side of the spectrum..., for me, I'm pretty subtle. Polo shirt with a very subtle breast-located single text word or two identifying the event and date. I love it when people have to "ask" me about the story behind something subtle. 😉 I can wear that anywhere - church, golf, out to dinner, ... I've kind of outgrown (literally and in my head) the big flashy rock concert t-shirts. But that's just me. But I might also not be alone. @Kurt, don't mean to hurt anyone's feelings - that artwork is awesome! I'd love a frameable poster of one. Your ChatGPT skills are way beyond average! -
Understood and agreed, Ed. I can make simpler versions. And, if you want, I can be in charge of the overall T-shirt coordination, too. I have some time available this summer and can easily manage it. I would need to get more input on the design, though. I certainly don't have the history that you all have. I'd want to make sure the Carverfest founders and usual attendees can relate to the design.

I like it but again, I am not sure that screen printing can do a good job on such a detailed graphic. Ed

For those of us who may not be able to make it, we would LOVE to be included on the ordering. As always, we hope to be able to make it, but the long drive isn't something some of us can make due to health reasons, or other commitments, but we are always still there in heart and soul. Keep me posted if shirts are developed (any time). -

Has a date been decided for the sub build?
-
Cabin 6 would be perfect for the sub build, but it's too big for just the two of us. So if anyone else wants to go in with it, that'd be the best route. We'd reserve it for one week, so it'd be open to others during CF, too.
-
Thanks Ed for adding me.
-
I like both of those. Wonder if Bob would allow a photo of him somewhere in there?

I'll help. I can propose artwork/design for the t-shirt. Here's what I got using ChatGPT for 5 minutes (not a bad start, would look good on a black colored shirt, kind of like a band concert T ).... I'm open to suggestions.

Hi Ed, Sorry I didn't make it last year. I'll be there this year. Put me down for a Treehouse if any are still available. I've got a new gig starting in the fall (college professor!) So, I can only be there for the final weekend, similar to what I've done in the past. So, count on me for the 17th through 20th.
-
Hello Ed. If Treehouse A is still available, I’d like to reserve that one. And if it gets reclaimed then give me D. I will be there for the first week. 9th thru the 16th

For many years we had T-Shirts made every year. We have not done so for the past few years, but I am thinking with this being Number 20 perhaps we should. Is there anyone out there that would volunteer to coordinate this effort?

CarverFest 2026 - This is number 20. Wow! The first was in 2007. Carverfest 2026 will stretch from September 9 to September 23, 2026. This will be Twentieth time we have gathered to honor Bob Carver's contributions to the high-end audio world. We will be hosted again by Stonewood Cabins at their Watershed Resort about 6 miles outside of Bryson City NC. We are hopeful for a good turnout. The resort owners are promising some special events in recognition of the milestone. As always, we remain hopeful that Bob and Peggy Carver will attend.

Hi all, I'm brand new to the site having just registered last night. I've owned a few pieces of Carver gear in the past though it's been quite a while. However I'm looking at potentially buying a pair of Amazing Line Source speakers, which are VERY hard to find for demoing. I'm in Raleigh NC so CF is pretty driveable for me. Obviously, the hour is a bit late but I'm hoping to come out for a day or two during the week and especially if there will be a pair of ALSs there. (Not to mention the man himself, of course!) So I'm just wondering if anyone has info or suggestions. If there is a room available for 1-2 nights I'd be more than happy to contribute to cost. Paul in Raleigh

Eric, Thank you for reaching out. CF is a very laid back - not too many scheduled events - kind of adventure. The bulk of people will start showing up on Friday Sept 5 and most will leave the following weekend, Sunday Sept 14. On Sunday night, Sept 7, there will be a gathering for dinner in my Cabin (8). On Saturday night, Sept 13, the Resort owners will host an evening with BBQ and live music. There will also, most likely, be other dinners in other cabins but none are specifically scheduled yet. Other than that, you can expect that people just make the rounds from cabin to cabin listening to music, admiring fine gear, and making friends. Of course, Bob Carver will be there for the dates I mentioned above. If you decide to come there are a couple of one bedroom units available or their are hotel options in town. Feel free to call me on my cell with questions or a heads up of when to expect you. I would be honored to introduce you around, I look forward to meeting you, Ed

Is there a schedule of events somewhere for this year's (2025) CarverFest?? I'd like to stop in!
