You have likely noticed there is no "insert picture" or "insert video / YouTube" buttons on the New Topic composition toolbar at the top of the post box.

You can either copy/paste or drag n drop pictures directly into your post so long as they are jpg / jpeg / png  or gif files.

Your image will first appear in an 'upload' window at the bottom of the screen, once the upload is complete, click on it and it will load into the body of the post at the point of the flashing cursor. As you add images they will all appear in the upload window.

Resizing is available directly by left clicking on the inserted picture and dragging one of the corner frame points to change the size.

Also, you can edit the uploaded picture by double left clicking on it which will bring up the 'Image Edit menu.

Direct image links

Web images: right click on the image and select copy image then paste directly into your post. You do not need the image link location. Resize as required.

YouTube Videos

Click on "Share" on the YouTube page. The highlighted link will appear, copy and paste. There is no need to get the embed code now.

Removing images

If you are editing a post and want to remove an image, You must to go to the Uploaded Images box at the bottom of the page and delete the image there. If you delete it only in the body of the post, it will not actually go away.

Managing your profile and personal settings

You can access your account settings by clicking on your name or Avatar at the upper tight hand corner of most screens.

The pull down menu gives you a number of options

Profile is where you can load or change your avatar - It's called Profile Picture in this software BTW.

  Click on the image button to access the image menu:

"Account Settings" will take you to your personalization options plus more:

Long time between conversations.

Would it be possible to have a section on the site dedicated to listing the components that are needed for DIY refurbishment of each model?   I realize that some models are pretty complex, for a casual rebuild.  Longtime members like you, usually have some models, if asked.  Maybe everyone can share their lists and put them in a specific section for all to use?

Oh, I can right click, load in new page, and the pic loads in the new page.

I was curious to ask if the back-end framework for the forum has an option that can be turned on in the Image Edit box that pops up.

That is, an option to rotate an image by 90, -90 or flip..., or some such.

Noticed a member ask, and well, thought this would be where it is.  Super cool options there, for sizing, and for alignment.  Wondered if some setting in the admin system side, would enable a rotate option?

If not there, it would definitely be a cool wishlist item for the platform provider to develop in a future update for its customers.

If I go to this site as a not logged in surfer the old (dark) Forum pops up,  no new posts available.  Then after login the new (bright) Forum is available,  and every time I log in I get an email saying new device login.  Just my old brain cogs wondering if this is normal?  or me over thinking progress.🙄

We only send out bulk emails in the event we have important information. Please ensure you are subscribed to receive 'news and information' in your Account Settings - click on your display name in the top right and go to Account Settings > Notifications.

Some of you may remember the original site. In February of 2018, we migrated the database to a new custom forum engine and changed servers, hosting companies, etc. It was a major overhaul. For the most part, our data was preserved. However, you may notice some older posts that have strange formatting, like a quote with no response, colored text that is hard to read, etc.

For Example:

  The red line indicates where the actual quote should stop, and the reply should start. We can fix this:

If you see formatting errors or other strange things in a post, even if it's content you believe violates the rules, Please REPORT it:

By mousing over the post, the 'Report Post' text will appear. You'll be asked for a reason. Please state a reason. The moderators will be alerted of the content to fix.

Attachments take up server space. Once you upload an attachment, it stays on the server, even if the post is deleted. The good thing is, you can re-attach photos you've already uploaded in future posts, so there is no reason to re-upload the same photo over and over again. All this does is use up space on the server unnecessarily, and you end up mouse-clicking more than you need to.

So to avoid uploading duplicate photos, go to the 'Insert other Media' button on the right hand side of the text window.

In the pop-up menu, choose 'Insert existing attachment'. You'll see another menu with every photo you have uploaded. Simply click on the photo you want to insert into your post and you're done!

Each member has 200MB of storage for photos.

If you want to see a complete list of all your attachments, click on your Display Name at the upper right and choose 'My Attachments'.

If you delete an attachment, it disappears from the server and ALL the posts it was inserted to. So be careful!
