  1. There are a small number of topics (Like Website Support) that require approval to post in. There aren't many and you likely will not encounter it very often.

  2. Warning points can be used to do automatic things like limit access to the site, block PMs, etc. We don't use them often because they deeply offend people. But the last time I issued one was to a new guy who was making deals here and backing out, and acting very suspiciously. It got his attention, even though warning points don't actually do anything for the time being. 'Why'd you warn me bro?!?!?!?' Was the worst it did. All you have to do is be nice, and you can have as much ice cream as you want.

  9. Hi, Decided to get back into audio last summer. Got a set of Klipsch Epic CF-2 to get me rolling, I had fallen out of love with my B&W DM630s, which I was pushing with a Nak AV-7. I recapped the 630s and that got me started on the electronics side of things. Decided to get components to replace the Nak. Got a Carver M1.0t and needed a pre. Found a CT-17, but that came with an A500X (see where this is going...). Have 2 C-1s, both of which I aquired as "broken", "fixed" them with deoxit (love that stuff), and then BillD'd. Also picked up an orphaned TFM-25 and just got an M500t. Also recently did a parts Express speaker build and picked up a set some Heresy, a few TTs... Hey, I think most of us have been there... The TFM-25 has chassis issues, plastic is brittle at the front so I stopped the recap at the big ones. The M500t has a DOA meter (haven't tried swapping them yet but it's not at zero, ever), and I'd like to MKII it at some point, but the sound - it's probably my favorite of the bunch. Anyway, that's me. Oh - almost forgot. I built an arduino based remote volume for C1 that sits outside the unit - no physical mods required. That was fun...

  16. Sorry for the delay all, and there might be better places for this in the forum, but here are some pics... Living room system - A-500X (unmolested), CT-17 (PS Recapped), Random Denon CD player, Computer with Tidal and Dragonfly Black, Pioneer PS-X55 with decent old ADC cart, Bose 10.2. The speakers actually sound half decent - it's a tricky room... Bedroom system MXR-130 to Bluetooth, Parts Express Matrix Tritrix which sound way better than they have a right to, but kinda suck in this positioning. Keeping my eyes peeled for some Ohm Walsh 2s. Don't come around in these parts much... Office system where I do most of my listening... Left to right - Heresey 1 (Recapped), Epic CF-2 (cross-braced) Pioneer PL-7 with Ortofon low end cart, TX-2, M500-t (recapped, 5 way plugs, meter repaired by @Nahash5150, Blue LED), C-1 (Billd, Arduino remote volume), TFM 25 (recapped, blue LED), Media PC with Tidal, Pro-Ject Prebox S2 Digital Here's a peek at the remote volume: Seriously half-assed or steampunk? Who cares. Don't judge me. I have remote volume control. The joystick is for controlling the volume locally. Can send the Arduino sketch (code) if you want - PM me. Also have an M1.0t that I bought recapped and a C-1 I repaired and Billd'd. The C-1 "repair" was done with deoxit. Amazing how many ebay busted devices are "fixed" with that stuff. Seriously... Basically, nothing interesting happened with any of the recaps. One time on the TFM I forgot to discharge the big caps - luckily it was all "sound and fury. Signifying nothing". Lesson learned. Another lesson - check the bridge mono switch. First serious listen it sounded odd so I spent a bunch of time checking my work only to realize I'd bumped the switch in the back to mono. Anyone else ever do that? Oh, and there was the busted Zener on the M500t here: So far this has been the only value I can add and folks here have been awesome with questions I've had. I'll have some cool stuff coming later this weekend on my trials and tribulations working through MXR-130s. Look for a tale of 3 MXR-130s coming soon... -Bill

  20. Well, it sounds you have all the symptoms of a Carver guy. We share our sorrows here. And um, yah our pleasure of this sport too. Either way, you came to a great place to learn about your equipment, and lots more. Welcome.
