  3. Michael Lington, Looking Ahead was release on May 12, 2023. "'Looking Ahead’ is quickly up and running with one of two singles already serviced to radio, the mellifluous yet edgy ‘Moon Goddess’. The song represents a first-time collaboration with fellow saxophonist David Mann who he first met back in 1998 towards the tail end of his years touring with the late Bobby Caldwell. Lington’s second radio ready number is the funked up ‘Play’ that finds him working with fellow sax star Darren Rahn for a number that owes much to Paul Jackson Jr’s blistering guitar licks and the rock solid platform afforded by bass player Mel Brown and drummer Tarell Martin." 7. Brian Simpson, Soul Connection was released on June 26, 2023. "The celebrated and genre-bending pianist, composer and producer has long reigned as a guiding light on the Contemporary Jazz scene. Revered for his Midas touch, Simpson’s trademark sound is known for soul-stirring love songs, hit-making party anthems and emotive and captivating melodies. June 16, 2023, Brian Simpson makes a Soul Connection on his eleventh album as a leader and eighth for Shanachie Entertainment. The anticipated recording is the perfect amalgamation of influences that are close to Simpson’s heart: Jazz, R&B, Funk, Blues and Soul and a healthy dose of optimism. His eloquent touch, sophisticated harmonic sensibility and bluesy overtones shine on each of the album’s ten tracks." You can read the rest of the review here...
  8. Euge Groove, Comfort Zone was released on August 25, 2023. "Growing out of a collaboration with regular contributors Cornelius Mims and keyboard player Tracy Carter his latest project is ‘Comfort Zone’. It follows his 2020 outing ‘Sing My Song’ and is an outstanding set of ten original compositions that confirm his place at the top table of contemporary jazz sax players." 15. Ahmed El-Salamouny, Rio Rhythms-World Music
  16. Ann Hampton Callaway, Blues in the Night (with a lot of jazz mixed in)
  17. Sting, Brand New Day, the whole amn dalbum. Track eight, Tomorrow We'll See, checks a lot of boxes for me; great bass line, great with sonic holography, and the echo/reverb on this track makes me think of Joe Bonamassa, Dust Bowl.
