  2. True confessions..... My wife wanted to get the Ed Sheeran cd( the green one).....it wasnt in but the 2 disc 45rpm album was. I bought it for her and sat down to listen to it a few weeks ago....thinking it would suk. It doesnt, its quite well done..... I've listened to it a lot the last few weeks...... I know....wtf?

  5. For fathers day my daughter bought me a 200gm remaster of Rush 2112. My wife bought a 45rpm double of Ed Sheeran. I thanked them and listened later that night. Both were just excellent, a pleasure to listen to, surprised me. I have a decent tubed CDP that lets good recordings really shine as well. I goosebump just thinking of some of them. I think my preference isn't one type or the other, rather well done productions of either. When its good its great, when its bad....it sucks.
  6. Welcome Raven, from Canada west......."Low bow" Hope you get your second system wish....do you have sisters?....
  7. Gene, funny thing is everything from zero F on up is pretty dang accurate on your above list.... I remember swimming on a beach in Florida in Jan 1976, it actually snowed that year down there. We had people with parkas on staring at us, it was a hoot, they thought we were nuts....it was low 60s F
  8. We have a flea market with a guy that stocks over 25K albums. We also have an antique shop that stocks about the same. These are good places to check out.

  10. Once storage of music became "nothing you could touch" It didnt matter what type of "ancient technology" you kept, if you decided to keep something tangible. For many people.....like me....I decided to keep the cool looking one. Kinda like keeping that 70s muscle car....just for fun.

My sincerest apologies to our Canadian brothers. Apparently I was woefully ignorant of the time frame involved in crossing the boarder... Nope, no worries.... Its hit and miss at the best of times with the post office(s) This time of year is probably the busiest.... Remember, "Good things come to those that wait" My wife is checking the mailbox daily......

  17. I agree, its the spirit of giving something you can touch away.... It came from distant lands, I waited for it to arrive, ramble on, sing my song sort of thing... I think it would be in the spirit to not release it on the interweb till after X-mass. My 2 cents.

The engineering that went into cutting a piece of plastic that can reproduce sound....amazing.
  19. Thanks for the compliments gents. Ok, on to how well it works. It works VERY well. One small modification, actually an addition. The factory model I saw turns the record by 2 rotating scrub brushes under the fluids surface. I've added a very SOFT brush to each album, shaped like a "U" It stays on its own by friction, and because there is only about 3/8" clearance at the end of the album to the tank it rides the album just under the surface of the fluid. I've washed 9 very dirty albums, most from goodwill, and about the same from my "good" collection. I've used up my distilled water, including my second stash I had at home. So about 8 litres total. I set the water temp to 110F.....one drawback is it takes about an hour to heat up a tank. I then set for 25mins.....so about 25 rotations. Now that I know that it works I'll make a filtration system to save on fluid. This is a very cool unit, if you have a bunch of albums, this would be an asset for sure.
