    Vinyl Facts

That's interesting Happy...im going to email that to Mythbusters lol
  11. Zoom and I are on the same wavelength but different tune. RUSH Moving Pictures track 3 YYZ in vinyl format.
  12. Those Sanyo amps run real hot so I rigged up some fans from amazon just to keep the heat down. Pretty much run room temp with those fans running so I just turn it up!
  13. Been doing it on my wax for over a year. Titebond II is the glue to use. Like ive said in that other thread ive done some records 4 times and its AMAZING the difference on these records. Ill Plug that audiokarma thread again. http://audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=99837 and the first video I found he goes a little heavy on the glue but you get the idea. I use an old TT I got from a buddy and use a bondo spreader to spread the glue. Be careful of the air bubbles cause the air wont let the glue touch the vinyl. If you think it didn't help the 1st time just stick with it. Like I said ive done some 4 times. It wont save ALL of the junk records but I shop used in confidence at the thrift stores and such cause I know the glue at least will make it tolerable. Good luck! Happy Gluing & Turn it up! Bob
  14. That's crazy! I think that's the speakers my brother had. Do you have any old pics of them bad boys? Should have at least threatened the big D lol. I kid I kid Bob

    Cleaning Vinyl

Hey Gene just thought id chime in. Color me crazy but I googled best way to clean records and this is what popped up: http://audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=99837 Read every post pretty much in that crazy long thread. Watched this vid on youtube: and I was sold!! Now when I go wax shopping im not scared to pick up some of those grungy ones cause I know that the wood glue will take care of em. only a few REALLY bad wax have I not seen an improvement on. Got The Doors 1st record from a buddy. Lets just say she was in rough shape. Glued it 4 times both sides and the sound out of that thing is incredible. I was ready to scrap it even after the 3rd time I was thinking to myself dude this thing aint coming back...just played it last night thing sounds awesome. So if you have a record you think is scrap just give it a whirl. I use Titebond II. And if your gonna get rid of some of those records let me know ill buy em from you in confidence!
  16. Jazzman...ive looked at your build on them speakers and I tell ya what! AMAZING! Wish I had that kinda talent. As far as my speakers go I have very little knowledge on them. Was actually going to start a thread and ask if anyone on the site had more info on them. When I was a kid my older brother had the 240's and while the cat was away...well you get the idea. They sounded kick butt to me so when I started figuring out life and had the means is when I got my original M500 and next was speakers. Was looking at Klipsch fortes when a buddy called and said there was some RTR 280s up in Duluth. I want to say at a store called stereo one. Someone was selling them at the store on consignment for 800 bucks. Listened to them for about 10 minutes and bought em on the spot. This was I believe late 80s. Had to replace the little tweeters in the bottom half and the transformers in the electrostats but other than that ive been jamming them for that long. So if any of you guys have any info on these speakers I would love to hear from ya that would be awesome! Thanks in advance Bob long winded lol
  17. Thanks everyone for the well wishes much appreciated! Was well past cohesiveness last night but that can happen. Buddy was over and we were rocking! Anyways pre is a Harman HK725. CD player Yamaha 5 disk dealio that hasn't been turned on in probably 9 months. TT is a B&O TX2 with MMC3 stylus. The 2 500's are running the bottom half of my speakers bridged 1 left 1 right. The top electrostats are powered by the Sanyo P55 amps bridged 1 left 1 right. Speakers are RTR 280's on the bottom and ESR 15's on the top. And a Klipsch sub to fill in a little bottom. Not nearly as fancy as most the systems on here but my friends and I enjoy it so rock on is what I say!! Ive had the top 500 and HK and speakers since late 80s. Just added the lower 500 and P55s last winter. The bottom 500 if you look closely at the picture is struggling badly. Light is dim as all can be and no way does it keep up to the top one ive had for the longest time. Like I said don't play CDs really at all on the system pretty much just vinyl. Been working on the collection so its getting there. Got sucked into the CD is better crap and have returned to the dark side! Been loving it! Im a auto tech(lol grease monkey) own my own auto shop so if you have any questions hit me up ill do the best I can for ya. Just bear in mind its hard to fix a can on the phone(or online as the case may be). But again if I can help will do no prob! I WANT to take a stab at the upgrade on these 500s but a little wary so we'll see what happens with that. Ive figured out that everyone on the board is super cool! so maybe ill have you guys walk me through it. Forgot to mention also have a C4000 that I got off craigslist cheap but it doesn't work. Havent got to look at it yet and not sure how it sounds but want that carver gear! Check 20 times a day for local ads looking for replacements for the P55s. would like to be rocking 3 or 4 m500s! So again thanks for the welcome and TURN IT UP!
