Welcome, @DouglasT, so glad you found us. And love your history - Please tell us more..., like..., did you ever work on Lightstar? Perhaps do you have a Lightstar 1 schematic? ... We are always looking for missing docs from our manuals library, and that's one that I personally would like to find (for my Lightstar Series 1 amp)... Seriously, though, there are a number of options for the fan motor that have been posted over the years. I think they are still available, and someone with a recent memory can post a link - Or, I'll dig it up in the coming week. Or a Search in the search box on the Amps forums will also find it and other threads on how to address your issue. I should ask, are you looking for the entire assembly, including the fan blade? Or just the motor? Again, welcome to the site!

In our area, in addition to more ..., we've got a population explosion of squirrels this spring. Which, has brought in packs of coyotes. . Wish they would take out some of the rabbits. How do we know? The roadkill on one of the roads out of my area is littered with an unusually high amount of squirrel road kill. Circle of life, Darwin, and the predator food chain, engages with mother nature and the physics of fast moving automobiles.

With that TX-11, you will be able to pull in FM stations from miles, and I mean LOTS of miles, away. IF, that is, IF!, you get yourself an FM antenna. I have my internal home cable system connected to a big antenna in the attic, which pulls in FM from 200+ miles away. Probably get more reception, if I didn'thave 100ft of cabling, distribution boxes, etc, in the mix, but it works great for me.

I use the individual account, to feed content to my Roon account. Roon handles "everything, everywhere, all at once" Meaning Tidal doesn't know that I have this in 5 rooms, AND in my car streaming as mobile through my ARC extension to Roon. (Cost, I have the lifetime subscription..., so I don't pay for Roon anymore on a monthly basis). Roon manages all the devices, and Tidal is not aware (nor Qobuz). Ostensibly, MQA is dead, and not used on Tidal..., and no longer paying MQA licenses, this move was part of how they were able to lower their prices, recently.

Welcome @Ranster, so glad you found us. Many of us have unique journeys to our hobby, and yours is quite unique and different. One thing to start your project would be to go to the Tube Amp forum, and start you own "build thread." Many here could perhaps give some guidance..., post your project, pictures of the components you have now, the schematics you are following..., etc. No guarantees, but that's how I would approach your next catharsis project in your Bob Carver amps journey. Again, welcome!! and do stay and enjoy.

Ahh, you make a good point. Well, truth is..., it depends on the instrument. Fingering patterns, say, on a violin, vs a piano, vs a clarinet..., can vary the actual "most difficult"... 😉 You are right, I over-generalized. Pianists generally feel that C-major on the keyboard, is the most difficult (or annoying?) to play on the piano..., for them. I hated b-flat major..., on stringed instruments..., but that was my personal sense.

Welcome @Rek. Glad you found us. Hard to say if the Carver pieces you have received were ever refreshed in the recent past or not. But in general, these items, if untouched since they were new, or if they were in a challenging environment (a dusty shop?), it's worth having them fully refreshed and adjusted back to new. Many here send their Carver gear to Greg ( @Nahash5150 ) proprietor of Nellion Audio, in Hersey, MI. I'm sure others will pipe in with other questions and recommendations. Again, glad you found us! There's a lot of information here, hope you post a few threads and stay a while. Welcome!

They restore/refresh, just like any other amp..., I recall that thread from @Carlton8000, or another thread, that he (or someone) recapped and refreshed the m240's he had. I've found that the "background noise" or a good portion of it, for me, was actually road noise, or noise generated by the car/cabin acoustics..., I only did one car audio build, when I was in my 20's..., so today, with all the sound deadening, and other things one can do..., I wonder if it's as bad. I have in my garage, a full system, brand new, that I picked up for my F150..., pioneer head unit, infinity cappa speakers for all four doors, and an infinity kappa sub... It's one of those projects I keep putting off. But I know that one thing I must do is put in a lot of sound deadening in the doors, where there's lots of flex from the increased throw and air movement of those Kappa's. I don't think I'll go so far as to deaden the floor of, I'm too lazy to pull out the seats, and carpet, to add it.

I don't really know. KLW was an external partner..., not much on them. I do think that the early plain amp designs, like the m240 had some indirect "Bob" fingerprints on it - but that's just folklore, at this point. Maybe @Ar9Jim can ask Bob sometime?

B-minor is a much easier key to play in, than if it were "C-major"... (musicians will get this...)

Welcome, @Shamdaddy, glad you found us. As @jeffs indicated, you should be able to polish the bezel. Novus is a good way. I've added an orbital polisher to minimize the elbow grease required. As for the side caps, I assume you are talking about the side caps that hold the bezel in? I think you can get those from a seller on Ebay, who sells faceplates. he may have them in grey, and black for the m500. I suggest you get a pair, so they color match, and replace both the right and the left. If the ebay source doesn't have them listed presently, find one of his faceplates, and send him a PM on Ebay from another listing, and ask him if he has them..., Ebay listings require a lot of work - and sellers sometimes slip at getting the postings activated regularly. I agree with Balok. Gotta' know what gear you have, to give you any advice. And, don't forget, the Manuals Library - menu at the top, you can also get manuals for most Carver gear by checking out the library for a PDF. Carver Manuals are pretty good at describing setup steps.

Watch Ebay..., the 240 stereo amp pops up every so often 😉

For those that haven't found it..., and are interested..., there is an entire forum here on TheCarverSite for Car Audio. Carver automotive gear - TheCarversite! It was @Carlton8000 that did the Carver multi-amp car audio build in a VW CC..., I found the thread! And, true to the dilemma of finding Car Audio units today..., he sold the car in the end. It's a cool read, if you haven't seen it. His title "Mile Carver Car Audio Install..." seems to be an understatement 😉

And, from 1993, again. Looks like this was their banner year for advertising. The issue with Car Audio, is that people wreck cars, and then they go to the junk yard. Or, they are traded in, and go to third world countries in the tertiary market..., so many of these amps, just don't exist anymore. One can find them, occasionally, on Ebay harvested from a junkyard by an enterprising individual - but they are kind of rare. And, note there are more than just amps. There are crossovers, and even a Head Unit..., I saw one of those on Ebay years ago, NIB.
