vinyl really does not take much more storage space than jewel-boxed CD's. There is no way I could have the music collection I have were it not for the 50 cents apiece I paid at Goodwill. Sometimes I would get 50 plus LP's at a time. I took a magnifying glass with me sometimes to inspect them first. I now have 1400 LP's from all genres, and have bought music I otherwise would have ignored. Vinyl is not to be feared, it is to be treasured.

I believe the sound you hear is that of a 12 string guitar, and sliding back and forth between the two necks. Thanks for posting this as it was nice to play this recording again. My CD copy was signed by the group and hasn't been played in years.

Could that sound be made using a Dobro? I do know that this type of guitar was used during the recording of Rumors, but am uncertain if it was used on the song you are speaking of. Lindsay Buckingham was a big proponent of dubbing sounds into their recordings as well, so the "bird" you hear may very well be just that. I will spin up Rumors later today and report back.
