Internet Privacy gone?

Seriously though - it is what it is, and to think we (or anyone else) can or will change it is delusional. Either find a way to exist within the system, or go off the grid.

The only way to change a system is to exist within it and participate in the process of change.

US would not have a constitution if people chose the status quo, and the US would be part of the British Empire.

CS is getting a new platform/upgrade, because the status quo of daily crashes is unacceptable to the community.  emwink.gif.

[...] The Trane controller in my house talks to an AWS Trane cloud, while the FooBot talks to another AWS cloud. As an up-sell, Trane will sell me a whole-house security/monitoring system and upgrade each controller to one containing a HD camera, and there is an app on iOS or Android. Cool. [...]

Agreed - this is cool. I'm looking at the same thing from Trane. I've had their prior generation system now for a while so I can control the mechanicals when I am remote.  They rebranded that to something better/newer with more partners, and they want me to update/upgrade.

I think that this creates a dilemma for the hackers - as that system is actually monitoring itself, redundantly - while at the same time it's like putting your valuables in the trunk of your car.  So, they know when I'm not home..., but if they break in, they'll be on their own video!  And, I'm capturing that remotely on my own cloud, duplicatively (rough example, but makes the point).

the other system I've been considering - to flip this back around on them, is SimplySafe.

I have to get rid of ADT, they suck, and they outsourced their call center to the same one that SimplySafe uses..., Why pay them for ??

In all this - the connection here is that physical security is now dependent on our digital and online privacy and security decisions.  Jump in and leverage the game to your advantage..., or get off the grid (need solar and wind for that..., and it's not ready).

That's fine LT and a good philosophy to live by. However, the elephant in the room here is that the opposition to this new bill are also the advocates of other much more serious and detrimental invasions of privacy such as Obamacare.

You are a self-proclaimed socialist - socialism does not believe in private property.

So why do you suddenly have a 'right' to privacy in this matter?

Sounds to me you want to have a leg on both sides of the fence when it's convenient to say...smear the political party you don't prefer? That's what it seems like to me.

btw, if you think this is bad - try putting your kids through public school and dealing with Child Protection Services. hahaha

You haven't seen nothin bro. Nothin.

Dude, you're reaching and you're a bully.
How about 'I'm sorry Martin. Yeah, I've been a bit too hard on you and I'll stop reading ridiculous intentions into everything you say.'

There's a difference between banter amongst friends and light hearted sarcasm than displaying contempt for the members here.

Just keep your posts civil, polite and on topic and you wan't have any trouble.

If it's a non-issue, then let it go and allow the member here to have their discussion back.

Thanks!

This thread was rolling along just fine until you disrupted it.
This appears to be your M O with me. Kick the dog and then make a fuss when he bites you.
I'm afraid of you pulling this crap every time I come on here.
I beg for mercy when you have these delusions about things that I'm doing.
You're the only one seeing this stuff.
I don't know what the hell 'triggered' you.
My beliefs? My politics? My face?
I've tried to befriend you and you keep coming after me.
Please stop bullying me.
Let me post on thecarversite in peace.

Talked to SolarCity, and waiting on them to start working with my local Utility, in about 60days. Most of IoT will end up in the cloud, so privacy and security is paramount.

Are you saying HIPPA/CMIA and EHRs are insufficient?

I am going to ignore this effort to 'label' .  This is not banter.

Smear the political party? Why are you dragging politics into this discussion? IMHO, the current two-party system is failure.

I have put two kids through the public school system and have dealt with CPS for the last 21 years.

I politely request that we refrain from any political discussions on this subject.
