Ah, well that is to be expected since it is well known the human brain becomes fossilized after a certain age and can no longer make new neural networks adequate enough to appreciate new experiences

Okay then, here's some Drake for you. Smooth R&B.

I bet he's heard of Marvin Gay...

That not too bad there but most are like this

I think Drake is one of the worst of the generation of performers. While I am generally not a big fan of current popular music, here are a couple examples of current material (2018) that I think is somewhat better than most...

I think one of the problems we have here is that by our very nature, we are all pretty much hooked on really good quality music, and that means we are rarely into the heavy mainstream.  Be it bubblegum, kiddy rock, K`pop, disco , any term from whatever your era you grew up in, it's not likely a real love of the folk , here.  And you know that it's often not that the music was inherently bas, it was usually just so massed produced, often poorly produced, quickly, and badly recorded, and the media popped out in poor quality.

On that last point, I remember far too many LPs where they jammed the tracks in so badly that there was often horrible crossover between the grooves.    That kind of thing just underlines the whole music industry's view of that sort of music.  And here we are at the extreme opposite of that type of thing - regardless of the style you like.

Well I must report to you that I have been unable to identify anything that would quality as a musical masterpiece that has hit the mainstream. Sorry  Nahash5150, I failed you. I even conferred with the gang at a progressive music forum I inhabit that is full of musicians, producers and even distributors and record label owners and no worthy suggestions have yet appeared. A rapper was proposed but I instantly reject that on the grounds that for me rap is basically dogsh*t.

Oh Oh - I hope I didn't start another controversy with that last comment. C'mon guys can't we all agree to pile on and denegrate that entire genre? I for one enjoy criticizing things I know little about like rap music and string theory. If I ruffled feathers with my music opinions I guess I had better keep my view on a socialist revolution and enforced national sterilization program to myself... 😉  Just kidding of course, to hell with politics. I fully intend to respect the forum rules and norms, just curious about what happened as I see there is a history of such shenanigans of which I'm wholly unaware...

We’re a lively bunch here, and far from heavy handed when it comes to moderation. That said, we will not tolerate personal attacks or outright trolling.

Keep it respectful and polite, but by all means, feel free to disagree:-)

Always! Please feel free to hit me over the head if I have unintentionally been otherwise. I know sometimes humor and sarcasm does not always come across as intended in a forum post and differences of opinions can be taken personally. These days civility seems to be in tragically short supply...

Heck I don't personally care what your likes or dislikes are. And I think you've been just fine on the forums...I don't even know why we're talking about moderation.

If I sensed you were interested, I would post some modern brilliant stuff...but I don't think you care. 😛

Well as I previosly stated, sometimes humor and sarcasm does not always come across as intended in a forum post and differences of opinions can be taken personally. I'll make an effort to be more literal if responding to you in the future. Somehow I feel none of this would be at issue if this were a face-to-face conversation rather than forums posts. Carry on!

This should be the official motto and disclaimer for all internet communication.

As annoying as they are, there is a critical reason for even simple emoticons.  Any written message always comes across as being far harsher than it was meant to be.   :-)    People depend hugely on inflection to covey the tone of any conversation - that is blocked when things are written.

That said, from what I've seen of this group, everyone is FAR more reasonable and quick to make amends than almost anywhere else I've seen on the Net.  Credit to all of you, there - way to go!  :-)

There's no issue...now I'm even more confused.

Just because I'm an admin doesn't mean my mere presence means someone is in trouble...

Everything is okay everyone!

Agreed. Sorry for any confusion and I certainty didn't mean to stir up the sh*t. Now back to our regular programming wherein I shut up and read about audio engineering excellence. 🙊

...and I wonder what Dr. Phil's response was to this? (Other than to the mother, "How's everything you've done so far working out for ya?"

I had to google “G-wagon” - AYFKM....  The sad thing is that some poor manager/supervisor is going to have to deal with this little diva down the road when she’s forced to enter the work force.

Calling rap dogsh*t is an insult to dogsh*t.

I think Zappa was brilliant!  Being from Baltimore I know I AM biased!  But he was great!  His later years completely blew me away!  I am saddened he was not more popular!  I would love to sift through the archives!

In my humble opinion, I think hands down one of the most intelligent men in my lifetime!

i miss you frank!
