Would I Lie To You?

Recommended Posts

This is a fun game. List six bands/artists that you have seen at a gig/concert and one lie, who you have not seen.  Leave a reply: which is the lie? The correct guess takes up the next six bands  Would I Lie To You? challenge.

I'll start the challenge:

1. Grand Funk Railroad
2. Rolling Stones
3. Black Sabbath
4. Mahavishnu Orchestra
5. Elton John
6. Evelyn Glennie

Good luck!

I'll take a stab at it with Van Halen.  ?

Nope, saw them in College, in the early 80's, with Diamond Dave..., they were just getting going.

Next Guess...?

(FYI: Be back late tonight - offline until after 10pm, CST..., will look for first winner before I turn in.)

Nancy Wilson, the jazz singer or Nancy Wilson, guitarist for Heart?

Oh well, I'm in with Jason Aldean

I'll end it, and pass the game to Itch...,

I met Steve Winwood at a party in SF, once, but never saw him in concert....

The rest were real concerts over the years.  REO in college like Van Halen. Nancy was from Heart.  Aldean and Bentley were at two different Country Thunder events in Wisconsin (I may have posted photos here ! LoL).

@itchitch I'm betting this is wrong, simply because it's so different from the rest of you list:  Vangelis

@dcl I'll have you know I can't get that "Would I lie to you" earworm out of my head, thanks to you!  The only thing that makes it tolerable are the visions of Anne Lennox that accompany it.  9_9

It would be natural to assume that I would see my Greek brother Vangelis ... but you are correct. Never saw him.

ALL ONE CONCERT - Cotton Bowl 1989:  Ely - The Fabulous Thunderbirds - SRV - The Who

Van Halen - Red Rocks (David Lee Roth)

Wow!  I figured that would be too easy to be true (caveat - I am decidedly a Vangelis fan B|, but I haven't seen him).

All one concert, eh?  That sounds like it was quite the show.

Okay, here goes:

Yes

Alan Parsons Project

Boston

Genesis

Ambrosia

Tag, you're it, folks.  |-|

@#$%!!!!

Okay, here's one more - that means there could be 2 that I'm lying about - you only need to get one lie right.

Simon and Garfunkle

BZZZT  - you lose!   Saw them a few years ago as an opener for someone.  The main act in that show was just a bonus for me - my wife and I got tickets because of APP.  Sadly it was after the passing of Eric Woolfson, but Alan Parson's voice was great.

As the list narrows, Ambrosia is my guess.

Happy to oblige, Brian. ?

Nice try @dcl - and touche for the video, but I did actually Ambrosia at a casino venue several years ago.  They were a group I didn't think I'd ever have the chance at seeing, so it was a lucky thing - that's the only luck I use at a casino since I find gambling totally boring.

Getting close.  :D

Next?!

I've seen Yes about 4 times.  They were actually who APP were opening for.   :--D

Thought I'd finish this and let Ray take things with his list.

It's actual Genesis that I've never seen.  The closest I've been is having seen Mike and the Mechanics twice.

And yes, I did get to see Simon and Garfunkel, who were great, but the venue sucked - it was a stadium, where every bit of sound bounced of the scoreboard giving a terrible echo.
