Ok yeah, if you bridged the amps on the drivers you would have to go with a passive crossover. Seems the power going to your lows would be stronger than your mids and highs, would have to tune that with the line levels on the crossover which sounds like a pain in the ass.

You know, it wouldn't be that hard to build yourself some lightboxes for those. A closing front face with the clear lexan, a translucent lexan backing, and then run a 12' rope light around the inside in a serpentine pattern, or a couple of tube flourescent running vertically.

I've thought about it a couple times, but don't really have a place to put them in this house.

That's AWESOME! Freakishly close to how my first system looked... I built some home made boxes for some car 6x9 tri-ax Pioneers!!I'll post some current pics here in a bit...

I did the same thing only I'm pretty sure I used Jensen's.  I also had a box with an 8 track player mounted in the middle, speakers on the sides, and a suitcase handle on top.

Here's one of my "to do" piles... Clockwise from bottom left: Bill D refreshed 500t (to be mkII upgraded), Greg refreshed 500t (to be mkII upgraded), original Bill D C1, stock C1 (to be modded), TFM 35 from Gene (to be refreshed), and TFM 55x (to be refreshed)...

Now all you'll need is some more speakers to go with those setups.

Yea - know where I can get a set of Kappa 9s...? :-)

My uncle has a set, but you'd probably have to pry them from his cold, dead hands.

After I finds me some black ones to swap the cabinets I'll let you know.

Owe you an apology, this was a horrid weekend. I did however get tissue wrap and the posters packaged, they will be winging their way to you tomorrow.

One good thing, the Meet Joe Black is not sun faded, I realized I was looking at the backside of the one sheet, not the front. It's very nice looking!

I'd like to get my hands on a TFM-55x and ESPECIALLY on a 500t mkII at some point in time.......how would you say those 2 amps compare to each other?  And how would they stack up to a TFM-45?

Thanks Mark, and have a happy and SAFE new year!!!!

Cheers

Absolutely no apology necessary! Just appreciative of the super generous karma!

Thanks again!

Wow - that's a tough one...The 55x is a brute - kind of like a 60's muscle car. Tons of power, but not a lot of finesse. The 55x did not do the horn tweeters in the Klipsch any favors. The 500t mkII (very rapidly becoming my favorite amp) is like a velvet sledgehammer - tons of power, and the ability to control it too. I absolutely love it's sound through the horns of the Klipsch. If there is a downside to the 500t, it's low impedance loads....I have had no experience with a 45...All the preceding is just MY opinion...:-)

If you don't pick one up soon I might just loan you one for a demo.

Then you got a real sweet deal Casey. Wont spend over \$500 for a working TFM-42, 45 or M-4.0t. Not when you take into consideration of what it will cost to recap it and service faulty or questionable parts. And they have to be clean too, no chopped ears or missing rack handles.

Ya know this thread would look neat with some Kappa 9's in it.

I'm hoping to do the "speaker shuffle" tomorrow, and get the 9s in their new home....

You guys will be the first to see the setup, minus the trusty RF7s...

I am sure we all are anxiously waiting to see them !

At some point you may want to demo that C-1 on them too.

Were you able to rent a fork lift to shuffle those speakers around?
