Howdy Bob and welcome to the forum. Thanks for not making us beg for system pics. eusa_clap.gif

I see a pair of M-500's (my favorite Carver amp) and some RTR speakers. Tell us about the rest please.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes much appreciated! Was well past cohesiveness last night but that can happen. Buddy was over and we were rocking!

Anyways pre is a Harman HK725. CD player Yamaha 5 disk dealio that hasn't been turned on in probably 9 months. TT is a B&O TX2 with MMC3 stylus. The 2 500's are running the bottom half of my speakers bridged 1 left 1 right. The top electrostats are powered by the Sanyo P55 amps bridged 1 left 1 right. Speakers are RTR 280's on the bottom and ESR 15's on the top. And a Klipsch sub to fill in a little bottom.

Not nearly as fancy as most the systems on here but my friends and I enjoy it so rock on is what I say!!
Ive had the top 500 and HK and speakers since late 80s. Just added the lower 500 and P55s last winter. The bottom 500 if you look closely at the picture is struggling badly. Light is dim as all can be and no way does it keep up to the top one ive had for the longest time.

Like I said don't play CDs really at all on the system pretty much just vinyl. Been working on the collection so its getting there. Got sucked into the CD is better crap and have returned to the dark side! Been loving it!

Im a auto tech(lol grease monkey) own my own auto shop so if you have any questions hit me up ill do the best I can for ya. Just bear in mind its hard to fix a can on the phone(or online as the case may be). But again if I can help will do no prob!

I WANT to take a stab at the upgrade on these 500s but a little wary so we'll see what happens with that. Ive figured out that everyone on the board is super cool! so maybe ill have you guys walk me through it.

Forgot to mention also have a C4000 that I got off craigslist cheap but it doesn't work. Havent got to look at it yet and not sure how it sounds but want that carver gear! Check 20 times a day for local ads looking for replacements for the P55s. would like to be rocking 3 or 4 m500s!

So again thanks for the welcome and TURN IT UP!Phones

Jazzman...ive looked at your build on them speakers and I tell ya what! AMAZING! Wish I had that kinda talent. As far as my speakers go I have very little knowledge on them. Was actually going to start a thread and ask if anyone on the site had more info on them. When I was a kid my older brother had the 240's and while the cat was away...well you get the idea. They sounded kick butt to me so when I started figuring out life and had the means is when I got my original M500 and next was speakers. Was looking at Klipsch fortes when a buddy called and said there was some RTR 280s up in Duluth. I want to say at a store called stereo one. Someone was selling them at the store on consignment for 800 bucks. Listened to them for about 10 minutes and bought em on the spot. This was I believe late 80s. Had to replace the little tweeters in the bottom half and the transformers in the electrostats but other than that ive been jamming them for that long. So if any of you guys have any info on these speakers I would love to hear from ya that would be awesome! Thanks in advance

  • 1 month later...

Hi BOB!  I am also new to the forum.  I loved your pics.  My first system was a Carver M-500t with RTR 300D towers.   Loved them.  My wife sold them in a garage sale for $20.  No I'm not divorced but I did have stop her from throwing away the amp and a C-1 Preamp.
