  1. It was just a few days ago that I purchased a fine retro table, a Thorens TD165. Sadly, my Nakamichi preamp phono section had decided that it wanted a raise if I wanted it to talk to any vinyl that happened to cross that way. I don't have time to learn all 87 switches and play with resistor values inside that recalcitrant box, so I decided to repurpose a Marantz 11.2 Atmos receiver I've had sitting around doing nothing (thats how things are here, really - this stuff just shows up and starts lurking in corners). So I prodded the Marantz out with a sharp stick, fought with all the weird s

  2. You know, when you are sitting in front of your favorite system listening to the music ...a song comes on and you get that chill because ...WOW! "Dreams" came on from the extended edition just sounded like magic. Eyes closed, enveloped by the music, Stevie's voice is right front of me, back-up sounds like they are slightly behind me and I'm just in the moment. Nice! Then Patrick Sweeney's "Them Shoes" comes on after that and...man I'm digging this!!! WD

  3. Yes - it's possible to get plug-ins that can supplement picture editing inside the test editor. I used to have a more advanced one installed but it got removed during the transition. I'll see if I can find it again. Also, if you go to 'Insert Other Media' there's a link to Luna Editor where very advanced editing can take place for your pics. you just upload your pics to the site, edit them, then save them back on your device. The engine obeys EXIF data, so if you post a pic that is sideways or something, just rotate it in your device first, then try uploading it again.

  4. Get your hands dirty. Order some reasonable parts and have some fun. The more you dig around and try stuff the more you will learn. All of us make mistakes so who cares about that. Fixing your own screw ups is a great way to learn. Just donโ€™t electrocute yourself in the doing.

  5. Hi @Nahash5150, I was curious to ask if the back-end framework for the forum has an option that can be turned on in the Image Edit box that pops up. That is, an option to rotate an image by 90, -90 or flip..., or some such. Noticed a member ask, and well, thought this would be where it is. Super cool options there, for sizing, and for alignment. Wondered if some setting in the admin system side, would enable a rotate option? If not there, it would definitely be a cool wishlist item for the platform provider to develop in a future update for it

  6. Thanks. This is the type of information I was looking for! Now I just need to clear off space on my workbench, and I can get started.

  7. Back more on topic, I would add that the amp in question is a pretty easy recap job - not too many electrolytics in the TFM-15 - so if you want to get into this game it's a good model to cut your teeth on. Be aware that there is one cap in each channel that is 'non-polarized' - be sure to replace it with that type. All the others must be installed with the correct polarity, or you're screwed, just as with a car battery. I'd put the two big filter caps in first; they are needed for sure. Then try her out. Then maybe do a few more, mirroring in the second channel what you re

  15. Yeah, its that whole "sort through it all for a few weeks" thing that gets me, though. Theres a few hundred pages of info here, once you condense out all the hugs 'n arguments and all. Agreed there. Much of it seems like alchemy to me. I can hear the difference between zip cord and heavy gauge wire - many people can - but I can't hear the difference between heavy gauge wire and oxygen isolated triple aught braided large mouth bass fur. Maybe someone out there can, but it isn't me. (Then again, there was at least one gent I read about a few decades back who could

  16. They don't flip as we know it... Look at you left hand and then look at it in the mirror. It is still on the left side. What the mirror does is to invert the image front to rear. That is...if we saw the front side of the mirror...( opposite what we are looking at) we would see exactly as things are, but we're not looking at that. We're looking at the back side of that image and therefore the image is reversed...front to rear...not left to right. We're seeing the inverted image, not the reversed image. Make sense? That's the best way that I can explain it. Here's the explanation fro

  20. Ahh, but they do "flip" up down..., it's just dependent on the orientation of the mirror. Put the mirror on the floor, next to a wall, and whatever is on the wall, will be flipped in the image on the mirror. We just don't put mirrors on the floor much. (And, many of us only barely remember the mirror on the ceiling hotel room, from the honeymoon..., which also did the same thing, !) LoL
