  1. Reposting this to the main thread since I hijacked someone else's welcome thread. Sorry guys. Hello everyone. Thanks for the add. Bought my first Carver piece 30 years ago. Still have it. It is a 6250 receiver with a intermittent issue with speaker output (smack it on the side and it works for a while). Looking forward to exploring the site and tapping into the brain trust here. Thanks

  2. Welcome !! We're glad you are here. If you can smack the side of the unit and it works the output relays are the most likely culprits. Les is a member here @Circuits & Concepts and sells them via his ebay store. Circuits & Concepts Relays

  3. Hey there, hi there, ho there folks! I've been a big Bob Carver fan since the first time I heard a system at the local store. I have an M-2060 mobile amp I bought when I graduated HS to drive some bazookas tubes back in the day. Then I was gifted a TLM 3600 disc player in 1992 by a generous girlfriend. And, just a few weeks ago I purchased a set of original Carver Amazings from the original owner who bought them in 1987. I've wanted a set of these for-EVER! They're being driven by a Crown 1502 (525W @ 4Ω x 2) getting it's signal from Marantz SR6006. The Crown had the bang for the buck within the budget I had, but I do hope to eventually replace it with a Carver amp(s). So far though, in the current setup I am definitely not disappointed! They sound.. well, Amazing! My new Amazings are all original, including the woofer foam. They were regularly used so I'm guessing that's probably kept the foam pliable over the years. (I know they're on borrowed time in that regard.) They're the piano black models with literally, not a single scratch! Being a new owner of a set of Amazings I'm hoping to pick up any tips & tricks willing to be shared here. While I only own these three pieces of Carver hardware I've been a major fan of Bob & his work in general so my knowledge far exceeds my equipment, & I look forward to some good Carver discussions here. Thanks for having me!

  4. Hi all, Should have done this first... Way back in the 80's I was going to be a recording engineer, went to school for that. Ended up in post production for movies, now work at Dolby Laboratories (but not the cool part). I've already gotten some fantastic support on my newly-acquired gear, a 4000T and a pair of M1.0t amps. The extent of my audio stuff, for years has been an aging 5.1 home theater system. I have a couple decent headphones, a pair of Austrian AKG K701s and a pair of Sennheiser HD540 Reference II I've had forever. I decided a good headphone amp was needed - and so it began. A Schiit Valhalla II headphone amp, then a Modius DAC, then a Music Hall 25.3 tube DAC (craigslist, couldn't resist). Then I decided I didn't have a cd player anymore and found a really nice Marantz CD67-SE on NextDoor. Seller also had a pair of Roksan Caspian power amps and a Rotel preamp. A deal was made. Then decided my life was incomplete without some SACDs so I found a mint Denon DVD-5910 on eBay. Local guy was selling his Denon AVR-3808Ci and a pair of M1.0t's. (I wanted an AVR with Preamp outs so I could have both a home theater system and stereo system using the same front speakers. Another deal was made. Then a pair of Acoustic Research AR308HOs showed up for $75. Couldn't say no to that! (these are fantastic, by the way, though I did manage to scatter one of the midranges - replacement on its way from PartsExpress.) Most recently a pair of NHT SuperTwos popped up. Then the 4000T. Can't Stop Buying Gear Currently all this stuff is set up in my basement, waiting to figure out how the main system will pan out. Thanks to everyone on this board, y'all are a friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable and helpful bunch!

  5. Awesome to hear! I'm a meticulous sob so I inspected them thoroughly before purchase. Had them remove the grills & (carefully) with my fingers I traced the foam around all 8 woofers for pliability & they all felt perfectly normal.

  6. Welcome to your new addiction. The foam surrounds on the flat honeycomb style woofers are blessed with long life, unlike the paper cone woofers found in the Silver and Platinum Amazings. Have no worries, there's still lots of life in them if they aren't damaged now.

  10. What is the best way to diagnose the output relay issue? It will have sound out of the left sometimes, then out of the right and then sometimes out of both left and right for a time. Other times it is very low output. Almost muffled. Does that sound like the output relay issue?
