  1. Welcome @ChestnutFalcon1201, glad you found us... As your journey with OCCD continues..., no doubt you will end up picking up a Carver C-9 Sonic Holography unit..., That will solve any issues for a system that doesn't have it "native"... Or, worse, you'll find that you prefer the external loop SH circuit better than the on-board internal SH circuit..., Golden ears say they can tell the difference. πŸ˜‰ But bottom line is, you can have your cake, and eat it too, with a C-9. (BTW, folks here really work hard to be excellent "enablers" spending your money on new Carver gear..., you will find this truth to be self evident. πŸ˜‰ ) Welcome!

  3. So here's my dilemma. I am the proud owner of both, an MXR-150 and an AVR-100. I'm keeping one of them, and leaning towards the AVR. They are both in excellent condition and function flawlessly. I'd appreciate some input. Thanks.

  4. Thanks. Excited to be here. And yes... I'm keeping them both. You don't have to twist my arm...πŸ˜„ I'll upload some pics soon.

  5. There are many similarities, but looking on the inside, 2 totally different transformers. The AVR has about 8 lbs on the MXR. A giant transformer. I understand that the MXR, with the magnetic field amp, has Bob's technology that allows a smaller transformer. However, the AVR is also a MFA. All of the circuit boards look similar, but the AVR has an extra amp mounted in the rear for the surround speakers.

  8. I'm kind of interested in exploring this Sonic Holography thing. However, the MXR-150 is a straight forward powerhouse. You know what? Maybe you're right. I'll consider hanging on to both for now.

  11. I clean when I first buy an album and when I want to listen to it again and it has been over a year since the last cleaning. I use a carbon fiber in between cleanings and zero Stat if needed.

  12. Welcome @ChestnutFalcon1201 to the site. IMO you should keep both. I am sure there is no monthly payments and you don’t need to register them every year. And you know, now that you have joined, you will surely start putting together systems for every room in the house. So keep the MXR. I have had mine since new in 1987 and it is a great receiver.

  16. My process is an obsession. I can't help it or explain it. It takes much longer to clean, recondition my records than it does to play them. A bit over the top? Yes but I only do this process only once per year per album.

  17. Yes I have played with the wood glue for the fun of it but my current method includes: 1. 5 minutes ultrasound on the kirmus 2. Brush clean with my own formula followed by 5 minute ultrasound 3. Repeat step 2 three times 4. Physical cleaning with microfiber 5. Rinse and vacuum with VPI vacuum 6. Carbon fiber brush 7. Milty zerostat gun 8. Placed in Mofi Master Sleeve 9. Write the date of cleaning on the sleeve 10. Repeat annually or as necessary

  23. Welcome @Cornflake - if @aceman117 brought you here, you are of good character..., the OCCD kind... LoL. Glad you are here... And, well, you have to take the "Good with the Borscht..." (having a little fun with @B-ManπŸ˜‰ ). Really, this site is a lot of fun, karma, and great technical support/help/knowledge... Welcome !

  24. Welcome. Check it out - there is a lot of info here. Lots of great people too. Be forewarned - a certain member, who eats lots of Borscht and has terrible gas to prove it, will likely try to influence you and generally stirs up trouble wherever he goes. He was once the king of dudeism but he apparently hit his head or something and has never been quite the same since. Now that he is old as dirt he resides in the frozen wasteland that some people call Canada - I guess it's warmer than Russia?? Guys like Balok, Daddyjt, Nahash5150, KVE777 can offer more insight. Just ignore him, if you can.

  33. Honestly, I've never dealt with the AVR version. From afar, they look to be kissing cousins. You would know better than I on the differences. What are your impressions. And ignore @bfg4wd

  34. Hi CF1 I realize you are new here, so I'll lay it out for you. Keep both, acquire more! That's how we roll here.🀣 All BS aside, Why do you think you would be better off with the AVR?
