Hello all. I recently acquired some carver gear. An M500t amp and a TFM 35 amp. Looking for some direction on the M500. I understand it’s a dual voltage unit using low and high voltages on the rails. My issue is the relay doesn’t close upon power up. I’m leaning toward the op amp or something in that circuit. All the rectifiers check out good but I’m only getting around 30v on the low V side. Not the 40v it’s showing in the manual. The relay is good as I have supplied 24v to the coil to test it. I know these amps are different than most I’ve worked on but I’m ready to tackle this one. Hey all! Thanks for the warm welcome! I'm working on four (4) systems, 2 have three (3) TFM 55's sledge hammers for the bang and umph, one has a CT-29V and the other has a CT-28V for directing traffic. The third has three TFM-45 high head room bangers, it has a C-16 for directing traffic and the purpose is to well,,,, see how it performs against the other two,,,, blame Roland for that lol The later is umm,,,, well and please don't be upset, is a bit of a hodge-podge to be honest. Basically its an old Toshiba mini system that's in the process of getting two (2) TFM-35 framing hammers fitted to it to replace the tired amps that came with it

I use the individual account, to feed content to my Roon account. Roon handles "everything, everywhere, all at once" Meaning Tidal doesn't know that I have this in 5 rooms, AND in my car streaming as mobile through my ARC extension to Roon. (Cost, I have the lifetime subscription..., so I don't pay for Roon anymore on a monthly basis). Roon manages all the devices, and Tidal is not aware (nor Qobuz). Ostensibly, MQA is dead, and not used on Tidal..., and no longer paying MQA licenses, this move was part of how they were able to lower their prices, recently.

I found I liked Qobuz better than Tidal for sound quality. Everything is CD resolution or higher.... Not sure if Tidal still uses MQA compression, but I didn't like it. I just have a simple subscription for about $11 a month.... I can use it in on my phone, on my PC, and on my stereo via a DAC. I think Tidal may have a bigger library..but, I've yet to come across a song I want that's not on Qobuz.

if the relays are not engaging, your amp is likely in protection. Something has gone wrong. Suggest you start with downloading the service manual. Check the output transistors for shorts. Also check for DC offset at the outputs (up stream from the relays). This may help narrow down why its going into protection.

With that TX-11, you will be able to pull in FM stations from miles, and I mean LOTS of miles, away. IF, that is, IF!, you get yourself an FM antenna. I have my internal home cable system connected to a big antenna in the attic, which pulls in FM from 200+ miles away. Probably get more reception, if I didn'thave 100ft of cabling, distribution boxes, etc, in the mix, but it works great for me.

Tidal certainly looks like the best option for Tesla. You would need the Tesla Premium Connectivity option which I think is free for a while, then $100 for an annual fee (or $10 a month). If you don't use Premium Connectivity for anything else, then you have to factor that in. I wanted to like Qobuz. I mean I really wanted to like it. Problem is that it's limited to phones, computers, and maybe some high-end streamers. There are no apps for Firestick, Roku, or Apple TV streamers. "Casting" is not a very good solution. I tried that with intermittent results and constant frustration. Amazon Music streams in HD on computers and Firestick streamers, reduced resolution on the other streamers. Doesn't answer your question directly, just my experience with some of the high resolution services.

I agree with Balok. Gotta' know what gear you have, to give you any advice. And, don't forget, the Manuals Library - menu at the top, you can also get manuals for most Carver gear by checking out the library for a PDF. Carver Manuals are pretty good at describing setup steps.

Here's a thought-provoking meme..., Is there a difference? Are they the same thing? Is one the Ying and the other the Yang of Audio reproduction? Hmmm, ponder that for a while?

OK, the temps turned a couple of days ago..., highs in the 50s, were in the 80's last weekend. I still don't want to let go of summer! 😉 I had a friend with a red 68 Pontiac Firebird convertible in high school, with the small-block 400 in it. those were the days!
