  7. I just downloaded the service manual for my Carver TFM 6CB which was BADLY overheating. I suspect the cap's are bad as the amp works well for a while, but then overheats and the right channel cuts out. I'm going to do a refresh of all the capacitors on my Carver equipment. Parts are on order (capacitors and relays) from tedds.com and jacobsparts.com. I've played with audio equipment dating back to the mid 1950's, so I have a little experience with that.. Hope that everything goes well with the refresh.

  9. Hi Carver Family, I have been reading content here for about six months, and I thank all for their vast knowledge and input. I am the original owner of a C1 and M500t since 1989, while raising and caring for family, my audio sort of took a back seat to family needs. I never seemed to have the time or space to trully enjoy my system (AR9 speakers, 1981). Now that I am retired, I finally have the time and space, but, its time to recap and upgrade! I was planning to recap the AR9's, but as luck would have it, I was simply replacing the speaker cable connectors, and the amp did not power up. The m

  14. Hello all, Merry Christmas from warm (54 deg F), rainy Winthrop. Snow is about washed away. Regarding my music system - since I am 81 and wear hearing aids, the best in the world is no longer needed. I certainly couldn't tell speakers apart as I could 30 years ago. I do have good hearing aids, though. Starkey wireless (but not the newer Bluetooth ones) XINO 110. The frequency response has about 6 channels. Can be set for 4 different response curves. The curve I use at symphony is essentially flat from 20 to about 15k Hz. I can hear timpani and piccolos. I want to get the Carver TX-

  28. Front speakers are in the house! w000h000! After falling in love with the sound of some B&Ws at the audio shops, I hunted these down on Ebay. Went with the DM 303s with an LCR-3 center channel, the DS6 THXs are coming in tomorrow for the rears!

  29. I have been reading the CF amp build thread with some outside interest. On one hand, I find it to be a simple build, and I like that. Then there is the pure fact that even simple must be done correctly to avoid serious consequences. That is the parallel that is useful for me. You see, I am attempting to work on a N. Pass design from years ago, that yes, is simple, but unforgiving. Since there is little in the way of information, except for one partial schematic, it is threads, that actually are just that, threads of a bit of usable info here and there. In short, I very much appreciate your inp

  32. Hello everyone! This is the FIRST STATUS update on this forum. I believe it was @Daddyjt that nabbed the very last post on the old site. Maybe we'll make a special award for that - the Mud Duck award. Anyway, you may need to enable your status updates by going to 'Edit Profile' on your profile page, then toggling the slider to green, then save. Also, when you FOLLOW other members, you are alerted when they post status updates so you can always check out what's happening! More tips and tricks coming!
