  1. We saw that Jef Beck tour in D.C.@ the 9:30 Club, it was superb–great to see Monsieur Beck with a dueling guitar partner, Jennifer Batten, on-stage. Live in Japan is not available other than vinyl so good for you. Meanwhile...
  2. "Somewhere In America There's Street Named After My Dad"...
  3. Loan Me A Dime on the Duane Allman anthology or on the original Boz Scaggs recording is an all-time fave of mine, as well. Meanewhile ...
  4. Not often referred to as such, this stuff is really funky with the horns & all. One band I wish to have seen: exceptional story telling married to memorable, danceable melodies, on-your-feet-all-nght emotion.
  5. Listening to the NanoPod with songs on Shuffle whilst commuting, Hot 'Lanta queues up first. The fiery playing never fails to put spring in my step, a smile from ear bud to ear bud. Now home, queueing Hot 'Lanta again.
  6. The ECM label wafts out on a wintery predawn Sunday morning & is first out of the gate for the new thread. The cats having had Sunday dope (catnip) have stretched out to preen whilst Ralph Towner sets the mood.
  7. In boxes labeled "4 for $1" outside a new vinyl store yesterday. There was a Fall Arts & Crafts Festival on the street outside, inside were two comfy overstuffed armchairs, each with an accompanying side table offering a Technics TT (sorry, didn't get the model) plus headphones for listening. Boots with Strings, Boots Randolph (1966); All Aglow Again (with Fever), Peggy Lee (1960); Chris In Person, Chris Connor recorded live at The Village Vanguard (1959); Lush Life, Nancy Wilson (1967). Still no TT, friends, but the albums add to existing albums as decor until a TT joins the system.

    New Vinyl Releases

Headin' to the Pink Floyd store now, merci beaucoup, messieurs.
  10. Always enjoy your posts, DaddyT. Way to go!
  11. We like all kinds of beer & gear here, Ben, although OCCD may steal away from the beer budget. I like the CT-Seven just fine, quite a bit actually, it's an original owner purchase. Couldn't pass up a C-3 at a going out of business sale. Recently a C1BillD came by way of GeneC's closet sale. I think of mods/upgrades as investments in future longevity & health, both of the system and the listener. Enjoy the music!
  12. No TT here so I spin the CD. This is fiendish!
  13. Welcome onboard! The site is also a great resource for finding the gear you desire (and gear you don't yet realize you will desire).

    Neurochemistry of Music

While off in the weeds I found another iPod beta model with a four way crossover for separate skull transducers. Guess even when contemplating, dopamine, opiods, cortisol, serotonin, oxytocin, etc., we cannot resist any semblances to wires & cables .

  16. For sibilance, Paul Simion's Something So Right, as Balok indicated; So Many Things by Sarah Brghtman on Eden, or Stranger In Paradise on the Harem recording.
  17. We had the top down this sunny day, bopping along two lane country roads.
  18. The May 19-25 , 2014 edition of Bloomberg Businessweek has a feature article on Led Zepplin asking,"What if the foundation [songs] of the band's immortality has been lifted from another song...?" The six page spread will have the reader asking what is fair, what is just? Get a newsstand copy or check your local library.

  20. Welcome, good to have you onboard. You will meet a group of tech savvy gentlemen here, generous of knowledge, DIY guidance and gear. My skill level tops out at screwdriver and soldering iron but reading everything here enabled me to rescue my old ALS, make informed choices on improving home audio and for that I am grateful. Best wishes on your project
  21. Nice gear Kmh! Vinyl aficionados here will asking about that turntable and what spins on it. How did you come by your setup?
  22. Buddy Rich and Gene Krupa in movies and on black & white television shows were the first drummers I was aware of and too young to appreciate. My list of favorites is a subset of this thread's list, to which Billy Cobham I will add. He is the one to shock me out of a teenage In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida mindset.
