  1. Thank you for sharing that. It eloquently expresses the beauty and power of music and how important it is to do what you don't feel like doing. I came across a quasi inspirational quote from Jordan Peterson that struck me. I'm paraphrasing here. He said, If you want to change the world, clean up your room first. I took that to mean, take care of the things that you're procrastinating about, instead of focusing on the things that are out of your control. Anyhow. Thanks for the inspiration.
  2. Maybe this should be a new topic, but I'm curious. How many here, who have the luxury of loud and long listening sessions, suffer from ear fatigue/tinnitus?
  3. I agree that the music needs to be cranked up for me to thoroughly enjoy. Headphones just don't cut it. I need the visceral experience that headphones can't afford. When possible I tend to listen at a volume of 80 - 83 dB.
  4. I also find the best critical listening happens with an empty house. My listening experience can be affected by my suspicions that my better half is seething over me spending time enjoying music instead of doing fill in the blank chore.
  5. Nice to hear that someone is living the dream.
  6. I can identify with those who struggle to carve out time to get some uninterrupted, quality listening in. I had a happy accident recently. My eye doctor diagnosed me with dry eyes and suggested a therapy of wearing a heated eye mask for 10 minutes per day. It has been a Godsend. Now I need no justification to sit in the sweet spot of the HiFi for at least 10 minutes without interruption. I call it my 10 minutes of zen everyday. I still struggle everyday to carve out more time in the sweet spot.
  7. I try to get in some critical listening everyday, but responsibilities such as job, family, and (to quote Triumph the Insult Comic Dog) the demands of a normal sex life interfere with that goal. However, anytime that I watch sports on TV, I have the sound off and I'm listening to music. The best of both worlds in my opinion.
  8. I read how much time, effort, and money the members here spend on their systems. I'm curious how much time everyone gets to spend critically listening, and more importantly enjoying their Carver systems. Are you able to carve out some time everyday? If so, how long? I'm looking forward to your responses.
  9. Latest update I read is that his bodyguard gave him 2 doses of Ativan, which was too much and as a recovering drug addict, should have never been prescribed in the first place. It is surmised that this led to suicidal thoughts, and unfortunately in this case, action.
  10. Welcome back RTM. Impressive list of gear you have/had. Please post pictures of your setup.
  11. Welcome Jim! You have quite a beginning line up. Hope you didn't have any buyer's remorse the next morning after your online buying binge, like I have in the past. It's tough waking up wondering if it was a dream or if you actually hit "buy" and spent $1,100 in one click.
  12. Reportedly an apparent suicide. Tragic to see that kind of talent pass.
  13. I recently bought a "Hi Rez" version from HD Tracks of this album. It is my go to, if Jazz is what is wanted for the occasion. PhilDent
  14. Hope this isn't too trite, but this is a classic recorded at the now defunked, Sound City.
  15. The first two tracks are absolutely classic.
  16. off topic, but can someone direct me to a help section. I'm getting 3 emails every time the site updates.
  17. DCL thanks for the compliment on the speaker stand. This was my first prototype made out of knotty pine.
  18. Wow! Thanks for the info. I'm renaming the tracks now.
  19. Ok. Thanks. Being a newb, I didn't know if it was something on my end.
