  1. Holy Shi7. Neil Peart eat your heart out.... This kid is gonna be famous. Watch him spin the lft rear cymbal for just for kicks at 3:12 hehehehehe
  2. SH, of course. I can't live without it. (Guys, I'm kind of likin' this dude)
  3. Welcome Kmh!! ....he said 'does Phase Linear count?' .... hehehehehehehehehe
  4. "It's not about knowing when to hit each drum, it's about knowing when not to...." - Neil Peart.
  5. Jealousy. Experienced drummer of multiple influences. Successful 40 year songwriter. Humble to a fault. I wouldn't say even that popular as Rush really has not been that popular over their tenure. And it was far before their most recent surge that Peart was acknowledged, and retired as a nominee in Modern Drummer magazine's nominations for drummer of the year. Listed here as #3 all time behind Buddy Rich and Bonham
  6. Peart, at the Buddy Rich Tribute Concert. And 'Der Trommler' from R30, in Rio. So beat perfect you must remind youself this is not a computer. Then you hear the improv, the subtle little trills and you think, there's no way this is computer generated.......
  7. Neil Peart's willingness and ability to constantly reinvent himself, to strive to constantly learn more even after receiving numerous accolades amazes me. And his drive for perfection (successful!) and to be beat perfect entertains my left brain immensely. Along with being one of the most respectful, humble people I have ever seen. Brilliant, thoughtful songwriter...... Honorable mention: Buddy Rich.
  8. Welcome, Chris! I also have a TFM-35 and a C-11 pre, the slightly newer version of the C-1. Great gear! As Zumbini tactfully requested, we hawk everyone for 'pichers'. Cool to have ya onboard.
  9. Michigan Joke Drinking with a Michigan Girl A Mexican, an Arab, and a Michigan girl are in the same bar. When the Mexican finishes his beer, he throws his glass in the air, pulls out his pistol, and shoots the glass to pieces. He says, 'In Mexico , our glasses are so cheap we don't need to drink with the same one twice.' The Arab, obviously impressed by this, drinks non-alcohol beer (cuz he's a muslim!), throws it into the air, pulls out his AK-47, and shoots the glass to pieces. He says, 'In the Arab World, we have so much sand to make glasses that we don't need to drink with the same one twice either.' The Michigan girl, cool as a cucumber, picks up her beer, downs it in one gulp, throws the glass into the air, whips out her 45, and shoots the Mexican and the Arab. Catching her glass, setting it on the bar, and calling for a refill, she says, 'In Michigan , we have so many illegal aliens that we don't have to drink with the same ones twice.' God Bless Michigan
  10. Top Five; Rush "Time Stand Still" I turn my back to the wind To catch my breath Before I start off again. Driven on without a moment to spend To pass an evening with a drink and a friend I let my skin get too thin I'd like to pause No matter what I pretend Like some pilgrim Who learns to transcend Learns to live as if each step was the end (Time stand still) I'm not looking back But I want to look around me now (Time stand still) See more of the people and the places that surround me now Freeze this moment a little bit longer Make each sensation a little bit stronger Experience slips away Experience slips away I turn my face to the sun Close my eyes Let my defences down All those wounds that I can't get unwound I let my past go too fast No time to pause If I could slow it all down Like some captain, whose ship runs aground I can wait until the tide comes around (Time stand still) I'm not looking back But I want to look around me now (Time stand still) See more of the people and the places that surround me now Freeze this moment a little bit longer Make each impression a little bit stronger Freeze this motion a little bit longer The innocence slips away The innocence slips away... Summer's going fast, nights growing colder Children growing up, old friends growing older Freeze this moment a little bit longer Make each sensation a little bit stronger Experience slips away Experience slips away... The innocence slips away
  11. Welcome, sir! I love my 500t. It needs freshening up, but I feed it with a C-11 and it drives a pair of recapped DCM TF-600s. And I love how it sounds. It's the main part of my 'critical listening' section. Geez that OCCD.......
  12. Hello, Antonio! Welcome to Carversite!! My name is Brett, and I'm a silly sheltered American thinking Naples Florida is the only Naples. Sorry about that. Nice to meet you.
  13. Gene, if you haven't seen yet, in the liner notes Peart talks about the concert that makes this video. Apparently it was the last on the tour, and the band barely made it on time. They had transportation problems, and their gear was late. The sound check was minutes before the show. Listen to YYZ carefully. He refers to the crowd, one of the largest they had ever played for, nearly 50,000, and it was the first time he had ever heard anyone 'sing' YYZ. The crowd is NUTS at this show. Those emotional Brazilians.....
  14. Howdy Short! And welcome. You can burn a whole bunch more posts under 'Member's systems' We dig pics......
  15. Sweet dude! Nice start, even after a stumble most of us aren't lucky enough to stumble on a Hashy mod!! And welcome....
  16. Hehehe. Maybe. But depending on the pics, you'll probably make my Christmas card list.......
  17. Geez. Zillas on those Carvers sound like a kick ass idea. I just got home to 7" of new snow. I'll get it warm also and lets see if we can make some noise.
  18. Welcome dazed!! And thanks for the snow....I live across the pond in GR,MI. It just dumped on us, too. Lake effect. Nice Amazings. What do you power them with? Cuz I see some tubes in there.......
  19. luvtubes: I have been around audio for decades as a hobby, but only in recent years have I come back to it with a certain degree of passion. I restore old speakers that others kick to the curb. If they were top shelf 20 years ago, and they can be had for cheap, I am all over them like a fat kid on a jelly doughnut. My MG-20's started life as a delaminated mess, and after a couple delicate weeks of restoration in the garage, they sang again better than new. I have done the same on several sets of Maggies, Polks, and B&W's to name a few. I have also cleaned up several dozen unloved pieces of Carver gear over the years, as well as Pioneer, Sansui, Mcintosh and the like. I kept a few pieces, but as this is a hobby of endless possibilities, I like to rotate gear in and out. I have been able to get where I am at with just a 2500.00 out of pocket start, using profits from restoring gear to move along up the food chain. Don't worry guys, I will only sell stuff on Ebay, as sales to friends both old and new can lead to troubles at times IMHO, especially when vintage gear is involved. My reason for being here are to pick a few brains regarding some of the projects I have going on and to contribute where I can... Umm. I..I think I love you??
  20. +1 for 'School'. Which I also have on vinyl.
  21. Ok. I chose this thread simply because it wasn't a demo noise set of tones. Which I don't use enough and is certainly useful in it's own way. Camera Eye. Some of the best Rush imho. Even If you don't like Geddy's voice, try this. Track 5. Find a lossless rip and crank this up to 13. Transients. Dynamics. Good grief. If you can find all three musicians here, you know. Then play it again. And segregate Geddy's bass track. And smile a lot.
