  1. If you like Annie Lennox, this is well worth the $20 for vinyl.
  2. Well I am already a Prime subscriber but originally it was for upgraded 2 days shipping. I order a lot from Amazon. Over and above the 2 day shipping I get Prime video, not a big TV person but my wife and I enjoy watching seasons of ( fill in blank here ) I also Netflix, but do not have Cable TV. I am still able to donate my money to Charter for their fine high speed service (add lots of laughter here) I read, at times, a lot. I had some beni's from Amazon books through Prime, but just recently went to their unlimited (10/mtn) which pays for itself in the couple books I read a month. As a Amazon Prime I get a certain amount of cloud storage for music (might apply to non-prime???) When I purchase vinyl through Amazon (new) Amazon loads a digital copy into my cloud of which I can D/L and burn to cd. Although being a Linux user, I have to D/L singular songs, not the whole album at once. (not a big deal) Now, I can access over a million songs/albums through my Prime membership and listen on phone app and computer. Not tried it on my ROKU setup I have hooked into the system. Quality sounds equal to MOG and Pandora One IMO but all the listening has been with headphones (in ear) I forgot the exact amount of Prime now, but its right at $100 or less per year. For all I get I am happy. As far as MOG I was following your lead until BEATS now Apple which really blows (not a big Apple Itune fan) Dang as I look back over this post maybe Amazon is Big Brother???
  3. Thoughts on Amazon prime music? The streaming sections seems decent over and above the digital copies of the vinyl albums I have purchased. And added bonus for me is I am able to play through the company network without being blocked by a firewall (yet) Seems equal to Pandora and the other streaming service. Since I am already a Prime subscriber its yet another feature for less than $100 a year
  4. Not sure this would help but thought I mention. A friend of mine is a car salesman (used) and he said when they get a stinky or smoked in car they cut up apples and place them in a container under seats to absorb the smell. Might lock them up in a closet with some apples? Paul
  5. I regret getting rid of the vinyl I had 20 years ago, but enjoying replacing it now
  6. I have no suggestions on songs but will be willing to buy the disk with shared songs Paul
  7. IMHO it will be like everything else and run its cycle. But quality will eventually win out Why is vinyl making a comeback? Its not nostalgia its because the sound is better. (or can be if done correctly) I followed the path of stupidity (and did such well) in my life and music. I had tons of vinyl, then got rid of them all for CD. Then digital mp3 and Itunes comes along. Wow takes up zero space! Move everything to computer formats thin out the cd's KICK myself daily for such. Thats my opinion at least for what its worth. Paul
  8. Welcome! Great bunch of guys here. Vast Knowledge and these guys go out of their way to help one out
  9. Welcome! Great bunch of people here with VAST knowledge. I also own a 1200mkii that I did some rework on and really enjoy! Great TT for the buck Paul
  10. I know nothing about drumming. My ability to keep a beat is similar to Steve Martin finding his rhythm at the begining of the Jerk. I would consider the most popular drummer to be Peart. I've always like Peart, seems like a decent guy in addition to a good drummer. Hey, he's got a lot of drums so he must be good BUT, (and not intended to stir things up) I drink coffee a few mornings a week with a friend who has been a drummer his whole life. He is approx 60 and been playing since he was young. He is in a few bands locally (and has been most of his adult life) and rather knowledgeable on music in a whole. He says Peart is not considered that good inside the drumming community. Said there is a love / hate among drummers with Peart with more against. Paul
  11. I have been using this on the vinyl collections I inherated. My only complaint is its not worth cleaning 1 or 2, I go back to the disk washer when thats all I have. I do use a anti-static brush every time I put on on the table http://www.amazon.com/SPIN-CLEAN-STARTER-RECORD-WASHER-SYSTEM/dp/B002UKSZUU/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1394023379&sr=1-1&keywords=record+washer
  12. Have to repost a few of those!

To take it one step further..... I think that the degradation will differ based on the cut of the stylus diamond. Think of it just like a cutting tool used in maching, different angles on the tip produce different effects in the material they cut, just like different cuts of the stylus produce different resonance of the groove. Not sure the physics behind stylus design: But I could see where sharper "points" on the stylus may produce sharper tones, but the sharper point removes more material.
  14. Seems like the video also suggested a glue to use. Titebond maybe?
  15. The video's I have seen on this the glue is THICK.
  16. Sadly I only own half of them on vinyl. A problem I need to rectify

  18. I eyed that panel saw too! Always wanted one, even to the point of trying to engineer one myself on the cheap. Never did.... Funny panel saw story: I was in Lowes one day having some plywood cut down on their panel saw. Lowes, as seems to be practice of late, had hired yet another one of the finest those in need of a job, they could. The guy sets things up, has me double check his measurements before he cut it. Seemed he had some trouble reading a tape.... Well makes the first cut, it was to be ripped down into multiple strips, 4, all the same width. I suggested he set the saw up where my desired width was cut from the bottom thus giving me 4 strips the same size. He agreed and did such. So the first cut is fine he rips with the saw the correct way, feed the wood into the saw. Next one he said I'm just going to push it back through and make the next cut. I quickly speak up and say thats not a good idea, lets carry the sheet back around and feed it like we just did. Unfortunatly, he didnt agree with me this time and proceded to feed the sheet back wards into the saw. Well, as expected it made a terrible noise, then bound up the saw blade, stalled the motor, tripped the breaker and required the manager to reset things AND get another sheet of plywood due to the bad cut. At least no one got hurt
  19. Yea I saw that one, but the glass plates in a warm oven are the same principal, correct?
  20. Thanks Steve, I was concerned about the grooves, which is why I am asking. Confirms my concern. Paul
  21. Anyone had any luck with some DIY scheme to flatten warped vinyl? I was given another 50ish a few with some bad warts of warp. Not sure how they were stored, but almost as if something was pressing up on them in a box. A few are some I'd really like to keep, and there may be more in the stack with the same issue. I've listened to 10 ish so far. I have read some diy's that used tempered glass, approx 14" sqr x 1/4 thick. Sandwich the album between the sheets of glass and put it in the over at 150 for a certain period of time, then brought out to cool. I hate to spend $50 on 2 sheets of tempered glass if it wont work. I could use a couple sheets of aluminum plate with parchment paper between the plate and the album. Just curious if anyone has had any luck with any method Paul
