  1. Welcome, @Bobh, Glad you found us.

I'm not a tech, but there are some here that may respond.  Just a heads-up that this is a volunteer community of Carver afficianado's and fans..., not really a tech support site - although there are many technical threads of work, restorations, refreshes and repairs for many many Carver components - that's what the volunteer aspect is.

We welcome you to start thread on your repair and contribute to the community with your diagnosis and repair.  That will likely get more volunteers to pipe in over the next few days/weeks.

Most of the techs that are members here are in business, and don't visit that often - they are just swamped with Carver and non-Carver work as I understand it.  There are some hobbyist techs too that are exceptionally skilled, they are likely the first to respond, if they can.

FWIW, the MXR-130 is a beloved receiver, and there are many examples of restorations and repairs in the forums.  You could browse the receiver section, or use the SEARCH function - that will also help guide your research..., beware, there is a LOT hear, and search will give you lots of threads to peruse..., and may take time.

Again, welcome, glad you found us, and enjoy the deep resources here in the threads.

Oh, btw, do you have the docs and schematics for the MXR-130 to work from?  If not, check out the manuals library (top of page, main menu "Manuals and Specsheets".

Hi.was wondering if anyone has done recapping etc. to the Amazing speakers for better sound.Thinking that there older now and parts in the crossover may be out of specs..Any help appreciated..thanks Bill

It's been done before.  And, probably a good thing to do - your choice, as @xavionics notes, on whether you want to go with high-end caps, or basic ones.

I've not recapped my Amazing crossovers, but other speakers.  I used capacitors from Parts Express for the purpose - they seem to have a good selection of radial caps for speaker crossovers, of reasonable quality.

Share some pictures as you do this project! 😉  We'd love to watch.

Oh, yes, be sure to search, or review the threads in the Speaker forum, as I recall this project being done before and documented in a thread on the site.

  3. Welcome, @Tuesfurioza, so glad you found us.

Actually, while there is less knowledge in the knowledge base on car audio, some things are here (check out Manuals library, and threads in the Auto audio forums you can find by scrolling down on the home page, or using SEARCH.    There have been some here that have delved into automobile audio.

And, why not become the expert?  Post your work, and stories, for others to benefit, as you travel down your journey with your Carver M-4120.  I'm looking forward to seeing your threads.

    Again, welcome!

So my question right now is is this button available anywhere? And is it possible to change it out? It looks like it's very difficult to access it, there's so much wiring and stuff to dismantle in the display panel. Any advice?

Check with Les, at Circuits and Concepts on the controls/knobs/buttons.  He at one time had a full complement to offer.  send him a PM on Ebay, or here on this site, he's a member under the same name as his Ebay selling account.

Love that MXR-150, I have one just like it, wood sides, it's so elegant.

Welcome to the site, @RAD150, so glad you found us.

  5. Welcome, @KevinG, glad you found us.

This site thrives by having great members join, and add threads on their service or DIY projects..., that's the library of threads you see, that may help you, too.  When you can, please post your project, diagnosis, and solution..., we also love Pictures !! 😉

Welcome again, and great to have you join!

  6. From threads on other forums, namely Roon's forums..., this is a function of a few things..., first, simplification.  Second, MQA..., the promise is not delivering..., value is diminished..., and third market economics and competition.

The competition item, we don't see much.., but globally, there are dozens of services like this that we are blind to, that have genres that we don't generally experience..., the US and "the west" is a smallish fraction of the world's global music when considering how big other countries in Africa, Asia (China/Siberia), Latin America, and the Middle East in aggregate make up.  It's big-market thinking, and that helps lower costs for everyone.

To grow, these services have to expand, and consider a much bigger picture than what we typically imagine - very smart thinking - and we benefit.  No conspiracy theories - just good business.

  7. Welcome @Heat sink.  Glad you found us.

I think you need a picture for your avatar, that represents your handle "heat Sink"... 😉

When you get a chance, be sure to post some pictures of your Carver gear..., and any projects you might have, put in your project threads to share!

    Glad you joined, welcome!

ITried inserting a pic of my gear. Seems as if the iPhone photo is too big to handle. Unless I’m doing something incorrect.

I don't recall what the limit is, and I don't have access to those settings now. @wrf or @AndrewJohn might be able to answer that question.

I don't recall the limit, @wrf may know.  I do know that HUGE high rez photos fill our servers up quickly, and in general it's best to reduce them, since massive files won't display any better on a normal pc screen or phone anyway, with all the unnecessary resolution.

I always reduce images to generallized average visible resolution - sometimes I forget, but have not bumped into a limit myself.

Oh, Also, an iPhone will limit what it can "export" to other applications, too.  There's a whole lot of behind-the-scenes logic that Apple does..., that may also be limiting.  For me, I never post pictures from my iphone to TCS - I always mail them to myself, then from my PC post them to TCS running in my browser on the PC.  That may be why I've never encountered an issue.

  9. In anticipation of the Audio Show AXPONA..., the common observation is that nearly every vendor plays the same old (tired) music, year after year...

I don't know about this cartoon's reference to "Tool, Rush and Slayer.." But it makes the point 😉
