  1. Wow,.. I wish you knew me as a person to validate the reply you just sent ! The sonopsis you mentioned is (literally) the very journey I have been on ! Ive been wanting to write a book for over a year now explaining my journey to the perfect sound and what my definition of "audiophile" is. The chase this compulsive, addictive and ever changing rabbithole of sound has taught me SO much more than just audio ! Thank you for mentioning that book and author ! I'm eager to read it !
  2. I know I'm sorry,.. just new to the tube world. I'm fairly competent on all other things but this shit got my brain twistin.
  3. Hey Cuda,.. no, the amp came with all Genelex Gold Lions and had zero noise. I purchased the "best" JJs from them by checking all the boxes when ordering. I only wanted to try diffrent tubes strictly out of curiosity being this my first vacuum tube line stage... and I was WOWWED by them immediately,.. although like I said l, after some hours the left channel started making noise, and so on. I out the Gold Lions back in and they are almost dead quiet so it's obviously the tubes. Since the static sound I have obviously done EXTENSIVE internet poking and prodding. I'm seeing ALOT of people stating that this Preamp is HARD on tubes. A wonderful unit once dialed in but hard and finicky !
  4. Hey guys,.. so I finally found time to play around with this Classic Tube Preamp. Recap : there are roughly 25 hours on brand new JJ-gold pin tubes in line stage and the left channel (only) had a very annoying static that was rock steady and would not change with volume up/down or off. I switched the V2 and V3 tubes and now there is same static in (both channels) but now it varies up and down a little in noise level also.
  5. Hello fellow Carver Connoisseurs !!! So I'm a newbie to the tube world, I have a Sunfire Siggy 6x2 amp that was done by Flannerys last year and I just purchased the tube center that had a full refresh by Roland two yrs ago. I just replaced the 3 line stage tubes with brand new JJ gold pins. The first couple days I was BLOWN away at the difference in sound and the incredible detail they produced and were dead quiet. Fast forward to today, I turned on my system to pretty loud static on left channel only with volume all way down and will not "adjust" / change or go away no matter what knobs or buttons I touch on preamp. Has anyone had this or does anyone have advice before I spend the day diagnosing ? Thanks in advance guys !
  6. Hey guys, this message is for the guys whom have owned and figured out the dos and don'ts with the Sunfire tube control center. I have never had nor know ANYTHING about tube gear ! Over the weekend I made a long drive to pick up a supposedly original owner unit that was recently overhauled by Roland at -Hi-Fi. The owner said Roland did not like the tubes the owner had put in there. The control center does have the phono section. Ive read that these units (although magnificent), are very finicky to which tubes used. Please help guide me to which ones to use, and where to purchase. Thanks in advance guys !

Hey guys... I'm STILL in search for a Sunfire Classic Tube Control Center if anyone knows anyone that's selling one. 763-688-2228
  8. Hey guys, I am looking for a Sunfire Classic Vacuum Tube Preamp. Any condition. Thanks Jason
  9. Hey guys,.. So I would like some honest Info and reviews on the Siggy 600. The speakers I'm using are Polk Audio LSIm-707 with two Adcom gfa-565 mono blocks which I love (but) the 7s are DEFINITELY asking for more which brings me to this site for much more educated opinions on Magnetic Field Amlifiers from the great mind of Bob. I've owed alot of gear through the years, but unfortunately never any Carver. I know this may be rubbing some of you the wrong way, but I'm merely repeating others words from other forums. People have said they sound "dry or grainy" and I'm wondering what they mean by that and if (current owners) know what they are referring to ? Also if I was to come across one what is a good price to pay? Also for kicks what would the Siggy 600 sound and handle my speakers compared to a pair of Silver 7s or Silver 9s if I ever came across ?
  10. Lol, you are correct sir. Like most of my ventures I dabbled my feet for about 6 seconds then launched myself off the golden gate, and yes, this hobby AKA addiction can easily take stronghold and spin one self in massive dynamic circles between fit, finish, sound, brand, headroom, legroom, and spares for my bedroom. I would love to take your advice on "listening to the music" but I cant stop plugging, unplugging and twisting knobs to actually finish a full song on the Kappa8s cause these mo fos are HUNG-A-RY,..... so... this leads me to my last 2 options. Plan( A )Throw gobs of nice Carvers at them and cross fingers or Plan (B) Call local power company to have order and install a 35 ka-billawatt transformer into livingroom driving each noisebox mono.
  11. Hello fellow audioslaves, First of all I want to share I'm a fairly new noob to the hobby and Carver gear has always peaked my interest yet have not had pleasure of owning. Sites like this are what make this hobby very fun, Interesting and overall dynamic so thank you for not only the birth of the site , but also preserving what I beleive to be a historical Icon in not only the electrical engineering side of things, but also the music industry as a whole ! Without people like Bob Carver we may still be holding tin cans to are ears to amplify soundwaves:) without further ado, I am currently in the market for a Sunfire Signarure 600/2 or 9T-monos . If any leads pop up I would love to know. Thanks again ! Jason
  12. Hello fellow audio slaves,.. I am fairly noob to this hobby and need some help with direction with carver amps as I have never owned any. I am running Denon PRA1500 pre and have power hungry Kappa8s. As of now I have 2 Adcom555s and not very pleased. Sound "okay" but peter out fairly quickly once volume gets turned up a little,..they seem like their struggling the whole time. I've heard that these speakers (can) sound absolutely amazing but yet to prove that point. I can tell they want to but are begging for mo powwa. My goals are wanting to have great sonic bliss at low to mid volumes and of course when a favorite Floyd song is played I can blow my face off without any fears of starvation or quality . Here are my thoughts, please tell me the yes, no and or whys.. : 2 TFM45 or 2 Sunfire 300/2 or 2 9t monos ?? HEEELLPPP.
