  2. Guts or Balls There "IS" a medical distinction between "gut or balls". We've all heard about people having guts or balls but do you really know the difference between them? In an effort to keep you informed, the definitions are listed below: GUTS - Is arriving home late after a night out with the guys, being met by your wife with a broom, and having the guts to ask: 'Are you still cleaning, or are you flying somewhere?' BALLS - Is coming home late after a night out with the guys, smelling of perfume, beer on your breath, and lipstick on your collar, slapping your wife on the butt and having the balls to say: 'You're next, Chubby.' I hope this clears up any confusion on the definitions. Medically speaking there is no difference in the outcome. Both result in death.
  3. Welcome Doug. You've found a great site. You've been hooked like the rest of us.
  4. Welcome Mark. You have found a great group of people here with a whelm of knowledge. I dare use the word intelligence.
  5. Not In. If I'm home I usually set the system up to fire the canons on Tchatowski's 1812.

    It's Here !!!

Disc 2 Most of the tracks had specifics each person that submitted them listened for and was suited to their taste (just my opinion) and I could tell were favorites. That's exactly what we all use when shopping for speakers especially. I had the luxury of not being biased since I had not heard a single track (on disc 2) or know who the artist was. A few tracks did really catch my ear. Track 6 Ouverture, by Robin Vassy (Submitted by Weitrhino) really caught my attention and is more of something I would use as a test track. I may look for this album. Track 10 Powaqqatsi, by Philip Glass (Submitted by dcl) also grabbed me with the deep bass and chorus vocals with the percussions. Track 11 Walking On Sacred Ground, by Janis Ian (Submitted by Daddyjt) sounded exactly like it was described in the notes. Well put together. Track 12 The Children’s Crusade, by Sting (Submitted by Daddyjt) reminded me of listening to Flim and the BB's back in the day. Very tasteful. Tracks 13 - 17 Slow Freq Sweeps: I listened to each track and got no rattles even on the deepest beginnings of each. I'm not sure if it is my hearing or system limits but I could hear anything beyond the 1:01 mark on each track. What did others notice or hear on the sweeps?

    It's Here !!!

Both disc are correct in my set. I just finished listening to the first disc. I could pick out the things everyone said to listen for in the track notes. Maybe it's me but I thought all the tracks were pretty easy for the system to handle. What really amazed me though is how flat and unenhanced each track was, which is a good thing. Everything sounded so natural. It is nice to hear a true bass guitar and the strings on a regular one. The vocals and background instruments were as if I was in the studio with them. I also listened to see if I could pick up the noise floor during the quieter passages of each track and I couldn't. The sound engineers did an excellent job recording each track. I normally use more lively tracks to test systems as they will show you if things get muddled together or if you can still pick out each instrument and sound without being overbearing, harsh or too soft. However, it was nice not to hear the natural instruments instead of electronic creations from keyboards (which I also enjoy). On to listening to disc two......

I just checked the mailbox and I received mine today too. Thanks a lot Mark. I still need to know how to donate to the site. I know most of the tracks I haven't heard but it will be a pleasurable journey exploring/listening to them. Awesome job!!!
  9. Welcome to both of you. As said before, there's a wealth of knowledge here and the willingness to share is awesome.
  10. I usually put about 10 or more different tracks/artists on a CD-R (never use mp3 files to demo or test gear) whenever I go looking for new gear (especially speakers).
  11. If anyone is looking for something out of print check my list. If I have it let me know. http://connect.collectorz.com/users/maddmaster/music/view

  14. Last night we went to a new restaurant. Tip-top service to the max !!! The Table waiter gave us a great table. The wine waiter came over and gave us some great wine, the desert waiter came over with some great deserts, then the head waiter came over and, well they had some great service !!!
  15. After doing a little surfing it looks like musicdirect.com is the best bet. Everything else I saw you have to be careful if you don't have a region free BD player. I may try one to see if there's a big difference between the DVD Audio (DTS) and SACD versions of an album I have.
  16. You guys have me tempted to pull all my vinyl out. I have over 400 stored away. About 98% of them have only been touched and on a turntable once. I would buy the LP, record it on reel to reel or cassette and put them away. Now I need to find a place to setup my turntable. Glad I saved myself a list of what I have in the PC.
  17. It's still available on amazon. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_sc_1_11?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=discwasher+fluid&sprefix=disc+washer%2Caps%2C209
  18. Thanks. That is the one format I never tried and missed that one totally. I find the DTS Audio disc are great. However, they run the Bass on the "HOT" side. It is deep and full sounding, while the SACD only shines in that area if you are pretty much running full size speakers all the way around the room.
