Daddyjt 5,770
Not sure if this is related, but the “Favorite Movie Quotes” thread is not showing in the recent feed, even though the latest post is within the last 6 hours...

That happened on a thread I started a couple of weeks ago. I think it was this one:
Nahash5150 7,537
@Daddyjt It's not related, but I fixed it (you're talking about the feed, I was talking about sub categories that were in the wrong parent categories). Movies, Videos, Artists, etc are gray areas between audio related and general related...so...I'll just put it in audio feed. @Sk1Bum Fixed that feed a while ago.
Nahash5150 7,537
So, for the past week or so the site has been 'unavailable' or 'unable to find'. This error was intermittent. I just happened to upgrade the engine software a few days ago and I thought it was related...but it wasn't. The issue was with the nameserver software on the server. It's been resolved.
Brian_at_HHH 1,875
Good catch, Greg - thanks. I was starting to wonder if I had a problem - I was thinking of asking when you put up the notice. Glad you didn't keep focusing on tour changes as the cause - that's a tough one when you've made a change like that. BTW, love the notice banner. Really useful, and very welcome.
Nahash5150 7,537
Thank you @Brian_at_HHH! Yes, I love the announcement tool - very useful indeed.

Blues Pwr 760
I only get 3 manuals for Carver (4000t, C1, C11) . I click on Carver Database and get nothing, what am I doing wrong ?
Dadvw 2,180
I think the database is still down. They are working on it currently. I am not sure when it will be back online.
Nahash5150 7,537
Is there anything unclear about the 'Website Support' Category? We get so many posts in there relating to equipment repair. What can we do to make it clear that category is for Website and Forum support only.
Community Admin Sk1Bum 8,155 Posted January 26, 2020 Community Admin Share Posted January 26, 2020 Is it possible to have a two-step submit process for this area, maybe a popup when you hit the submit button that says this forum is for website issues only. If you're inquiring about manuals, repairs, or anything other than website mechanics, the post does not belong here?

I can look into it, but I know that will require a lot of custom code.
AndrewJohn 4,128
A short-term solution (maybe long term too) would be to move the link to it to somewhere less front and center..., Push it to the bottom of the page(s) somewhere. Regular members will know where it is, and find it, when needed. New Members that think it's where to post, will no longer see it as an easy quick shot over the bow. I'm thinking how website support is positioned on so many other sites..., at the bottom of the Contact Page, or even in the smaller "links" in the template at the bottom of certain "About" pages. I think having it at the top was good for the transition, as we were all active in helping find areas that needed work. Now that the site for the most part is running smoothly, it's time to put that link somewhere other than front-and-center. ...just a suggestion. 4

Nahash5150 7,537
@AndrewJohn Great suggestion. I just realized that was why I put it at the top - for the transition! I moved it to the bottom so we'll see how it goes! 2
Nahash5150 7,537
I also changed the 'Party Barn' to the 'Welcome Shop' so that it is more clean to newbies.
Nahash5150 7,537
Major new engine update is available. I'm going to have to do some research and ensure our 3rd party plug-ins will survive (like our live chat). I'll post a notice with date and time of the update, which probably won't take long, but the forum may have a different look and feel afterwards. Please take note of this! Don't complain in the chat - look at this thread for updates and troubleshooting or just ask the staff if something is not working or gets strange.
RodH 4,049
It's not going to be like a Windows update I hope.

Nahash5150 7,537
I don't know. Let me call Adam Schiff to make sure the Russians aren't involved.

Butcher 272
Its my earnest wish that any updates do not include a change to Zenforo or whatever that pox'd nightmare forum softbeware is called. I have friends across many forums, and there is much gnashing of teeth wherever that software erupts. Awful interface, privacy vanishes, and these silly participation medals pop up constantly. I can see getting a badge for 1000 posts, or for 100 likes, or 100 days for not irritating anyone. But to say "You just made your first post! Keep it up!" and "Thank you for participating in at least one discussion for 5 days in a row!" just whiffs of kindergarten.... and new mods always show up with every sites' conversion, and they all spend most of their time pacifying the anxiety-stricken natives with calming words about how there are to be speed bumps expected with a major upgrade, and how all of their comments and suggestions are welcome and the site will improve over time. Honestly a Zenforo conversion is like riding in a hi-rise elevator with someone who has intestinal gas: "Oh, we're so sorry... please wait - it'll get better, promise!". And they punch up every floor between the lobby where you started and the penthouse you're going to, while smiling like a maniac. 1
