Sk1Bum 9,803
Hello carlos, and welcome to thecarversite.com. We're glad you're hear. There is a lot of information here, much technical know how, and a pretty good bunch of folks that are happy to help. I didn't do my M1.0t upgrades myself, but I do know they made a huge improvement in power for the amps. One of the techs may chime in with a detailed explanation. The M1.0t service manual is here: https://thecarversite.com/manuals/mandir/Carver M-1.0t Service Manual.pdf Once you get to Novice status, please consider uploading some pics of your gear in the Members Systems area. We all like pics of all kinds of audio gear. In the meantime, kick your shoes off, turn up the music, and welcome aboard.
Brian_at_HHH 2,607
Welcome, Carlos! You've certainly got a great amp to be looking at updating! Tons of capacity in there to take it to entirely new levels, or just add some new, fresh caps to it and give it many decades more life. Are you looking at doing the work yourself, or looking for someone to do it for you? Either way, there are lots here who can help you out. I have an upgraded M1.0t which is up to what is called the Mk II, Opt 2. level. It's extremely clean and puts out massively more power, now, than I have any sane use for. I have less than no regrests going that route, though I admit I did not touch it myself - I and the amp would likely both be fried had I tried that. I can certainly attest to the sound quality (and quantity) after having the work done - well worth while. In any case, please post some pictures of your setup when you have a couple of postings under your belt, and enjoy!
dennismiller55 4,717
Welcome to the site Carlos. At a minimum you should replace the electrolytic capacitors. There are no exact replacement for the large high rail capacitors. You will need an adaptor to fit a replacement capacitor. Greg at Nelion Audio has these adaptors. You can contact him for the specifics. You can also PM here @Nahash5150. There are some Service Bulletins that should be accomplished. They are outlined in the service manual avail here on the site. There is also the mkII modification. There are several post here that discuss this popular mod. Greg can do that mod for you. 2
