shortcake 66
Harry and I are thinking of you, and want to send all the best mojo we can muster. They say nothing good comes easy, I just hope it all comes - for all who need it.

Nahash5150 9,418
Thank you all! Jen has been home and is getting better. I can't tell you how relieved we are... I have been giving her antibiotic IV infusions every 8 hours. This will last another week or so. She's also on two oral antibiotics - so the aggressive antibiotic treatment continues. It makes her sick, and she can't hold down food sometimes, but she's gritting through it. She takes frequent rests and still gets fatigued easily, but she's now walking on her own and can even do basic things like typing/computer stuff, help with dishes and fold laundry. She's spent some time on the bench too, but only for a few minutes. Her eyesight is still really bad, so she gets frustrated when working on anything intricate. She still needs lots of encouragement. She's been fighting for her life for weeks, and now she has to keep fighting. She gets hopeless and anxious. Fears getting sick again. Can't remember simple things. We're doing our best to catch up - with the business and with the home. Making slow progress so far. Lots of work and struggle ahead. We accept it. 7 1
Daddyjt 8,357
That’s great news brother - at times like this, it’s frustrating to live so far away from our great friends…. I wish more of us were closer to you guys so that we could lend a hand… Tell Jen we are all thinking of her, and keep fighting!
AndrewJohn 6,565
Thank you for the update, Greg. Sounds like the tide has turned, and progress continues to advance. Prayers continue.
4krow 4,010
Some of her troubles could be from the antibiotics themselves. That would be good in the sense that this will all die down after the meds stop. Not to mention the abuse that her body has been in recently. Yes, it will get better, and no I can't imagine her getting this again. Can't blame her for the anxiousness though. Wish her well for me, and I can't say enough about both of you remembering to be GOOD TO YOURSELVES. It is that important.

Yeah the antibiotics are definitely causing problems, especially with nausea/vomiting. I mean antibiotics are basically poison that kills off 'bad stuff' faster than the good stuff. Much like chemotherapy. The idea is to release just enough poison to kill unwanted cells while your body cells just barely make it because they have a body to support them, while the bad stuff does not.
Nahash5150 9,418
Jen is still recovering and doing pretty good. She can't work yet, but is able to do small things for now. We're dealing with vision issues as well. Her eyesight has suffered substantially... Also, I know some of you have gone through similar or worse. I'm not trying to steal any spotlight or act like I'm so special. Just wanted to post updates, especially for those I do business with. Life is life. Tragedy is the norm. Some of us lose the lottery in life and aren't destined for high social status or whatever. I'm just doing the best I can while everything seems to be fading away spiraling out of control.
4krow 4,010
You will feel that way at times. Devastation has lasting effects before we can get back up. Someday, it will occur to you that you actually have had more than a good moment. That today was a good day. It comes when it comes, I consider it to be a turning of the tide at that point.
Nahash5150 9,418
UPDATE: First, Jen is still recovering and doing extremely well. I have been caring for her and making sure she gets her meds, eats and drinks healthy stuff, assist her with tasks that she normally does but can't quite yet on her own, we do physical therapy, and she's been spending more time typing and writing. She can now walk up and down stairs without assistance. Back in December 20th, when she came home, she could not even walk without assistance. Her neurological disabilities overall are getting better. However, she remains quite sick from the antibiotics. It's very hard on her. As of this month, we have been dealing with lots of bills, bill collectors, retroactive insurance applications/denials/problems/approvals/follow up, doctor appointments, doctor visits, doctor lab requests, a couple of visits to the ER because of liver problems from the meds, personal taxes, business taxes, household taxes, banking catch up, running reports, entering receipts, keeping the house in order, answering lots and lots of emails and text messages and phone calls and writing cards and responding to cards. On top of that, keeping the business running and doing the best I can to keep everyone happy. 10
4krow 4,010
I swear, this will all be history someday. Try to somehow find a moment for a breath. We're pulling for you.
Brian_at_HHH 2,574
Greg (and Jen), a very much belated best wishes to you. I honestly haven't dared say anything, kind-of holding my breath that things would be okay. Be well, and good luck with the endless paperwork, bills, chaos, confusion and, of course, Jen's still suffering effects and side effects. Keep reminding here things will and are getting better, and will continue to do so. As hard as it may be, keep your eyes on the fact that she should be well, again, and it's only time. Last, but now least, even though you've no doubt done it constantly, make sure you both know you are there for each other! 3
