Runing 1975, after my last class in the university, I decided to walk along Corrientes Av. in Buenos Aires down town, just to have a break before return to may house ...

Hided in the street noice , I could detect a very good sound coming from a record store ,

Once inside I can enjoy a wonderfull deep bass, clear saxophone solo and incredible presence for all the musicians .Incredible sound, the LP was "Mr Magic" by Grover Washington Jr.

After some short time I fall in love with the album and take one with me .

For sure the first thing that I done arrived at home was to play the disc in my decent gear Audinac (Local audio equipement manufacturer)

HOWEVER !!!!!!!.....

The saxofon musician must be in the toilette right now?,,,,,the drumer drinking a bier ? ,and all the others looking a football game.....?

Where did I lost my magic sound???

The record is the same ...must be some part in my audio chain?....

Looking for answers in the Shop I saw:

Garrard 401 whit shure M91ED

Mc Intosh Amp.

Two Tannoy Gold coax. in a Karlson box.....sooo.....nothing to do........

After that I never stop looking for new equipment

Cool story!

My first real system was pretty good.

Or at least I thought so, until I happened to enter a high-end shop in Hong Kong many years ago.

The notion that you can actually hear a difference between different amplifiers was eye opening!

Been chasing more accurate sound ever since.

Nice system! 👍👍

I appreciate your writing this. There are some real showstoppers in life if you will just notice them. Trouble is many people just walk by. It was very rare that I heard good audio in an audio shop. It became a chore for them to set up multiple systems in different rooms to try and encourage potential buyers. In fact most stores ended up by just trying to produce more bass. Yah, that led many right to the front.

I like that you were simply taking a break and heard something that made you stop. A distraction (usually women) can change your life.
