Hi - Both units appear to work fine. Single owner. They were very gently used by a perfectionist father in-law. His setup was in the kitchen so obviously never played loud. Last played 15 years ago. They are very clean inside and out.

What upgrades should I consider? I know “ain’t broke don’t fix it” but I want to be preventative and want to know about any upgrades that improve performance. I can do the mods myself.

Speakers will be Elac Debut 2 DF6.2 (6 ohm nom, 150W max output, 87 dB @ 2.83 v/1m)

Thank you!

Jim

Welcome to the Carver site.

I would first take a look at this site to get some ideas on what you can do to those units. Maybe it might entice you to avail yourself of his services.

Greg ( @Nahash5150 ) is hands down the best person to pamper those two units into better working condition.

As for the information on a BOM for both of them, I can't help you in that area. I'm sure that a search of the Carver Site will get you started.

Good luck with your units and I commend you on being proactive.

Hello Jim3 and welcome to thecarversite.com. Glad you found us. That amp and pre are both nice units, and they're popular here. If you want to do the refresh/mods yourself, then I would start by searching here:

and here:

I hope those links can get you started.

Welcome! You've got a couple of really nice units there and it sounds like you can enjoy them while you check out various refurbishment options. I did a C-4000 last year and while it was a lot of work, it turned out beautiful - dead quiet, too.

Welcome to the Carver SIte!  I have several m1.5t's and a C4000 myself.... all of them have been updated/upgraded by Nelion.  My C4000 needed the work... had some static, and other issues.  The m1.5t's... well, like you, I just wanted to make sure they would last and were operating at peak performance.  They came back with more power and cleaner sound.  So, I'd recommend the updates.
