Daddyjt 8,357
Little busy this afternoon. Retired the AV-705X and the A-400X along with shuffling some amps around. The AV-806X is powering the surrounds and the other TFM-45 is running the axis speakers now. Might need to drop a 3rd breaker this weekend. Having 2 additional TFM-45s were not part of the plan originally. Gene, PM me if you want to sell your 705x...
Gene C 1,742
Sorry Mark, I'm going to hang onto it for backup incase my 806x ever takes a dump and has to go into the shop.
Daddyjt 8,357
No problem. I offered that guy in Spokane $1000 for the kappa 8.1s, and he accepted! Driving over Wednesday to pick them up. Looking for a 4+ channel amp to free up some of the bigger amps to run the new kappas....

Looking for a 4+ channel amp to free up some of the bigger amps to run the new kappas....Thats great but I would recomend 2 independent amps for biamping those speakers not a 4 or 5 channel amp. Especially ones that will dip in the 2 to 4 ohm range. Just because the specs say 6 ohms don't count on it. Those 8.1's can hover around 3 ohms at extreme levels. Just like my 9a's they say 4 to 6 ohms on the specs but can dip to .7 ohms. Did tell you those 8.1's are allot more amp friendly but not by a large margin still being underrated. Daddyjt 8,357
I'm on the same page with you - currently running my rears with a TFM 35x, and my surrounds with a TFM 55x. I want a multi cannel to run my surrounds and rears, so the 35 & 55 can run the kappas..., would those 2 be enough to drive them?

danowood 2,139
Just went through the trends, wow, very nice system Gene, you might want to talk to you homeowners ins. rep and check to see if you need to have extra on your policy in case of fire or something. They may only insure up to so much. Thats the way they do it on guns, and jewlery etc. Most excellent set up, very pro indeed.
Gene C 1,742
Went out in the garage today and built an audio rack that hangs from the ceiling. Been wanting to do this for a while. New amps on the way next week pushed me into getting it done today. Had an idea but no plan on what it was going to look like. Made due with the materials I bought from Home depot this morning. Will post finished pictures with equipment in it next week. Here's what's done so far. How it was originally...
Daddyjt 8,357
Nice rack, Gene:-) looks heavy enough for a future pair of Silver 7s...! What are you running for speakers in the shop? Kappa 6, 7, or 8? :-)
Gene C 1,742
For right now I'm running the smaller Infinitys and a set of Martin Logans that are in my closing signature. Forgot the model #. Bigger amps may mean bigger speakers later.

zumbini 6,092
Nifty little weekend project Gene. Is it attached to the joists?
Gene C 1,742
Nifty little weekend project Gene. Is it attached to the joists? Thanks Dom. Yeah I ran 6 anchor screws through the top into the joists. Its holding all the weight. That cabinet was never intended to take the weight of the equipment that was on top of it. Daddyjt 8,357
Yea, I have one if those Gladiator cabinets that I originally got to store ammo in... That didn't work so well, but it's GREAT for storing mags and holsters and spare parts.

Gene C 1,742
Finished up with the project after brief delay of being over at my mom's house for a few hours this evening. Waiting for the "Black Face" M-0.5 to show up Wed or Thurs to go in that big gap and she's done.
