Gene C 1,743
Turned out real nice Gene, so how does it sound ?? Sounds much better. Just bought a TFM-15cb off of ebay to replace the TFM-6cb. The TFM-6cb sounds great but I think its going to have a hard time keeping up with the M-0.5. The Martin Logan's are a little louder than the 4 Infinity's, before they had a nice balanced sound and played well with one another. Now the ML's are bullying my Infinity's. Can't have that kind of chaos between my speaker friends.

Are you gonna do the Blue LED meter light mod to it ?
Gene C 1,743
I'm undecided right now. Ill see how it looks in there with the stock lighting first.

Zoom 372
Little busy this afternoon. Retired the AV-705X and the A-400X along with shuffling some amps around. The AV-806X is powering the surrounds and the other TFM-45 is running the axis speakers now. Might need to drop a 3rd breaker this weekend. Having 2 additional TFM-45s were not part of the plan originally. Wow. Now that's kind of the direction I would like to take. And I thought I had some power. 4 Silver Seven ts bi-amping Kappa 9s. Good grief. Gene, do you have any idea of a peak spl #? And what do you think is the size of your room? Not because I'm an spl freak, just for reference purposes. Very Very nice, sir. Gene C 1,743
Thank you kind sir. Room is 18x21 and have seen a max on the SPL of 116db. That was on a test day, with subs turned down a bit. There are 4 subs, that was mostly mid's and high's. Ears did ring after that, not normal listening volume for me.
Zoom 372
That's what I was hoping and looking for. I can reach those db levels, but I'm sure not at nearly the clarity that you have. My room is 25x25. I'm sure you can appreciate the enormous transients that occur at those levels. It's stunning.
Gene C 1,743
Thats a good size room. However 116db is just purely insane. My listening levels are between 78db and 103db which is still fucking loud.
Zoom 372
No problem. I offered that guy in Spokane $1000 for the kappa 8.1s, and he accepted! Driving over Wednesday to pick them up. Looking for a 4+ channel amp to free up some of the bigger amps to run the new kappas....Thats great but I would recomend 2 independent amps for biamping those speakers not a 4 or 5 channel amp. Especially ones that will dip in the 2 to 4 ohm range. Just because the specs say 6 ohms don't count on it. Those 8.1's can hover around 3 ohms at extreme levels. Just like my 9a's they say 4 to 6 ohms on the specs but can dip to .7 ohms. Did tell you those 8.1's are allot more amp friendly but not by a large margin still being underrated. Ahhhh the impedance explains the quality power requirements. I wish I knew someone close who had a pair I could hear. If I shuffled some amps around and had them serviced I might be half way to powering a nice set of 8's.
Gene C 1,743
Got completely recaped TFM-45 #2 from Greg today, #1 showed up last week. The TFM-42's now have now retired to the closet. Had to go through and replace all the blue LED strips with some different LED's "Much safer ones"

Gene C 1,743
Somebody added 6SN7s to their headphone amp, I see. LOL! Yes sir I Did. Had some serious back and forth going on there for awhile. But after talking with you and picking Jack's brain I'm glad I settled with them.
SteveFord 1,059
Which ones did you settle on and what did they do for the sound?
Gene C 1,743
Which ones did you settle on and what did they do for the sound? I went with his Drive/Power tube option 1. It was allot more spacious or airier as he put it. I was turned off by the break in period on them being NOS before the cleared up on the bass notes. If you remember the first set he sent me were defective which is why it took me awhile to settle on these. They are way better than the stock tubes it came with, but on a side note the stock tubes can take more volume but don't sound as life like as these ones do. Drive/Power tube option 1: 1 matched pair of 6GL7/6EM7 plus one pair of 6GL7->6DE7 Teflon tube adapters. $150 (2 tubes + 2 adapters) The 6GL7/6EM7 is the ultimate driver/power tube for the WA6. It has great extension and excellent clarity on all frequency range. You will hear each note with breathing air around it. The sound is smooth and well balanced. This tube is compatible to the WA6. You will need to use a tube adapter because the pin layout is different than the 6DE7/6EW7. It is a twin triode tube with high amplification factor. It produces higher output. Gene C 1,743
Philmore Blue LED from Fry's Electronics. They are on back order now, I cleaned them out. You can see the difference between the old LED in the Silver 7t and the new one in the TFM-45.
Gene C 1,743
Thought I'd snap some pictures of the main living room seating area. Put together some CD and vinyl shelf's from Ikea. The basket crates the vinyl are in I picked up from Target. They fit perfect in those shelf's.
