Oh...it's a record weight, not a volume knob....
Here's a lousy cell phone photo (not mine!) of the original weight.
The engraving reads: To Bill Dibble (Bill D) from all of your friends at the Carver Site

Ah k - never knew about that. Then that is certainly fitting for the medal - I just think the 'BD' is a little overbearing, perhaps if it was made a smaller font. But the just the silver knob gives it an iconic feel. All we need is a 'BillD C-1 modified owner' in the tooltip.

Just my opinion!

Good point Greg. How about we use the existing MKII medal but in silver instead of gold.

How bout enlarge the record weight with the initials BD engraved into it. Like your II Rich?

I vote for this version, with Bill's initals (very respectful & classy)

It meant a lot to me to be part of that and have my name on it when we sent it to him in the hosp. and even more so now............

I cannot express how happy I am that this has finally happened. I too was unaware of the custom engraved platter weight presented to BillD by the site. I guess that all happened just before I joined or when I was brand new and clueless about it. It was a really nice gesture as is this medal to respect his work.

The C-1 that I found on epray and later discovered to be an original mod done by BillD himself is one of my most prized possessions. Never having met, spoken to or corresponded with BillD is one of my biggest regrets.

I concur with Gene and the others who support the design with the BD on the weight.

I am pleased that this concept has received a favorable response from forum members.

I never met Bill and was a new member here when he first performed his magic on my C-1s. I feel fortunate to be a beneficiary of Bill's talents.

Bill's initials on metal will keep him and his contributions in everyone's mind when searching through the forum.

I would like to nominate the esteemed wrf for the Samaritan medal.

From what I have seen he exemplifies what is best about this site.

Agreed!
