4krow 3,868
B-Man, I know that what you are actually seeing in this photo is an approximation of real life. There are times that you have to pull off the road and get a good look, or yes, from your back porch. Back when I lived in the mountains, there were those times that I just had to drop my tools and look/run. A beautiful sunset, three rainbows, a charging bear... 1 1
Daddyjt 8,355
All hail the Bar-tailed Godwit! This bird is a champion flyer and once again an individual has broken the world record for the longest continual flight. This week a juvenile Godwit, just 5 months old, landed in Ansons Bay in northeast Tasmania. It had been tagged in Alaska and departed there on October 13, 2022 before flying non-stop to Tasmania. Godwits are regular visitors to Tasmania so it’s likely that many undertake a similar flight but it's the first time a tagged bird has flown between Alaska and Tasmania. This bird flew a minimum of 13,560 km in 11 days 1 hour, that’s an average of over 51kmh continually for those 11 days. And don’t forgot there was no eating, drinking or sleeping during that journey. 2 3

AndrewJohn 6,316
Forgot to set my clocks back..., woke up, started my day..., and caught the sunrise. Here's the momentary view of the sun shining underneath the clouds, at that acute angle for a brief time that I catch most mornings. Spectacular. 2 2

Big variation from last week..., hard rain, and a day of gale winds knocked most of the leaves off the trees, changing the silhouette of the skyline dramatically.

4krow 3,868
Too bad that we can't photograph at least some of the incredible moments in time. Often times, camera or not, we walk unaware. Today, I can only tell you that I saw a flock of starlings weave and pitch in the sky, almost disappearing and then becoming whole again. Moments like these are best kept in mind by our eye and memory. 1

4krow 3,868
Makes me want to pick that cub and hold it, before daddy eats it. Ok, no that's not the case. And even if I were able to pick it up and hold it, things would dramatically change. Perfect photo though. Thanks. 1

AndrewJohn 6,316
(probably posting this in the wrong thread..., but this one has me shaking my head. No safety glasses? No steel toe shoes? No laser? (ok paper and knife measuring precision 😉 ) Good hand signals, though!
