  1. Thanks for the info Rich. I did manage to find the owners and service manual with your instructions. I couldn't find them because I wasn't going to the Pro amp section. Thanks again. Going to start repairing my damaged amps hopefully next week. I will keep you posted. Fhawk PM me when you get a chance, I like to talk to other sound techs!! Later all.
  2. Hi fhawk, I found a manual for the PM1.5 today. The manual is for the newer amps without the two limit adjustments on the front. I was sure I had the manual for the older type too, but cannot seem to locate it. I took a look at my amp and the two limiter adjustments are set as follows. The 1.5 second limit control is set at 11 oclock and the 30 second limit control is set at 10 oclock. I have been using this amp for over 20 years and it has always worked well and never fried any speakers, even though it has been driven hard at times. Hopefully the info I have provided will be of some assistance. I think the info Rich provided was correct and if one could find the proper manual for that particular amp, I think it explains in detail how to adjust the settings. I am not sure if that manual is here on the site or not. I for some reason haven't seen any owners manuals for the PM1.5 here on the site, but that might be just me, LOL. I'll keep an eye on this post, it interests me too. Have a great day!!
  3. Greetings and welcome to the site. I just joined last week myself. I also use PM 1.5 amps for pro sound production. The oldest one I have is the same as the one you have, with the two RMS limiter controls on the front. The other four PM 1.5 amps are newer and do not have the limiter controls on the front. I do have a service manual for the amp. I will look and see if it has the instructions on how to set the controls. I have the owners manual for the amp and it describes how to set the controls. I have been looking for it since I joined the site but must have it buried under a pile of other manuals or schematics as I have not been able to locate it, but I haven't given up looking!! When I find it I will post the information. Good to see you here, its not often you run into anyone with multiple PM1.5 amps especially using them for sound reinforcement. Sure beats lugging 100 lb amps, LOL.
  4. Greetings Everyone!! Thank you for the responses to my post and the greetings from everyone. I posted a question about serial number identification for the PM 1.5's and hopefully will get some feedback from that post. This site is very informative and looks like it is going to be a great help to me. I had no idea Bob made so many different Carver amp models !! I will post some pics of the ones I have later this week.
  5. I just found this site when I was looking for some info on my Carver PM 1.5 amps. I am looking for the manual for the amp as I seem to have misplaced mine sometime in the last few years. I have had most of the amps [i have 5] for at least 15+ years. I use them in sound reinforcement applications and they have been very reliable. I do have two of them that were damaged when I rented them out. I learned my lesson and do not do that anymore. My project this winter is to repair the two damaged amps and get them running again as I would like to put them back in service next spring. I am wondering if anyone knows about dating the porduction date of these amps by their serial numbers. I will post a request for the information. The most important thing that I discovered early on about the PM1.5 is that each amp needs a 15 amp circuit to run properly. I have a 240V single phase feeder panel that splits the power into 12 seperate 15 amp circuits. I do not use extension cables and plug them directly into the panel. I typically run them 45 hrs at a time and do not switch them off for that period. Although they are only being driven 50% of the time they are on, I leave them on overnight when they are not being used to keep any dampness or moisture from building up. I have used them for 15+ years this way and never had a problem with any of them. They have been simply awesome. Hope to get some help in repairing my damaged units from some of the techs here. I will post requests and specific information when I get the chance to open them up and inspect them. I have been a tech for 30 years and repaired lots of amplifiers, mostly tube amps. The old Fender guitar amps are so easy to repair. The power supply and the tight spacing of the PM 1.5 looks like it may provide a bit of a challenge but I'm sure they are repairable. Anyway I am happy to have found the site and look forward to coming back. Greg
