Guest RodH Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 I've had a few through the harem over the years. Very nice with tube amps IMHO. Just in the works of maybe picking up a pair of Ardens (to flip, honestly) Any fans?
Torr 8 Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 I heard the studio monitors in a recording studio awhile back, lots of punch and impact.....
Guest RodH Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 I briefly had a set of KEF co-axials...their slightly low efficiency led me to pass them on( at the time) to a friend of mine. Every time I hear them now, I wish I'd kept them. What am I on about here? Co-ax speakers. The KEF's are co-ax in the same vein as the Tannoys. Brit thing? The Tannoys can be awesome or awful. What are your experiences?
snow 240 Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 Hi Rod my experience with Tannoy's are limited I had a pair of small book shelf speakers I forget the model now but they sounded pretty darn good to my ears and would take lots of power without complaint where as some speaker will start to break up at higher spl's these just kept getting louder and louder with no issues clear as a bell. Not sure what is in the Arden's you are looking at but I do know the dual concentric 15" gold's silver's red's are highly sought after and can easily bring 2k-8k a pair for some of these. I know there are several different models of these drivers and some are far more valuable than others here is a completed auction for some 15" red's http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Tannoy-Red-Monitors-LSU-HF-15-L-/221137005571?pt=Vintage_Electronics_R2&hash=item337ccaec03&nma=true&si=N4Q8RuXrFf8ERV0Eg1sDVBVW7uc%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 REGARDS SNOW
