Now that I can access the sight again, have you tried the Processor input. That is as close as you get to the volume control without actually injection a signal directly into the volume control itself. That will eliminate the input selector and Tape Monitor switches.

You may have tried this already but is the audio low on one side regardless of the input you choose?

I don't know what you have for test equipment but a simple program such as the free version of truerta https://www.trueaudio.com/rta_abt1.htm
is simple to use with your computer sound card and will tell you if the left/right outputs are the same even if you don't go through the calibration process. If you don't calibrate the levels of truerta it will still show you the difference between channels even if the measurements are not actual levels.

Welcome aboard Hammond. If there are two things you won't find here that's a lack of love for all things audio or a lack of technical support.

I also cut my teeth on "Sufing With The Alien" and have at least 8 Joe Satriani cd's in my collection. The guy is amazing to say the least. "Not Of This Earth" is amazing as well.
"Hordes of Locusts" is one of my favorites from that album.

QuoteI would add that the bass line in both "Flight of the Cosmic Hippo" and "Too Rich for my Blood" will help you balance your sub out with the rest of your system. Most of us tend to have our subs cranked up a bit too much. If the low notes are much louder than the mid to high notes, there's a good chance you have a bit much gain added to the ole sub. It should be a smooth transition, especially with Bela Fleck.
ChrisFlight of the Cosmic Hippo has been a favorite of mine for quite some time. The low bass notes can definitely rattle the walls and kitchen cabinets. Been there done that.

Of course that doesn't eliminate the Balance control but at least all the input selectors up to that point will be eliminated.
