Hey Steve!!! How the hell are ya? Haven't seen you around these parts in quite some time.
-
No. I didn't keep it very long at all, pre-recorded many discs were ridiculously expensive when you could find them, and I just started getting rid of any excess stuff that I wasn't using on at least a weekly basis
-
I'm not attending this year myself. 5 is a great way to go if you can get at least four or five people willing to split the cost.
This year would be a great opportunity for some newcomers to attend. I think there are going to be a few open cabins.

Welcome to CS!
I'm not sure what the issue would be with the site, it seems to be running okay to me. Might have been going through some maintenance at the time you were posting. I'm not sure.
if you decide to stick around, post some pics of your gear. People around here love pictures. (I think it's because some of them can't read ?)

I'm looking forward to seeing it next weekend.

It was great to meet you, Dave. If only for a few minutes!

Thanks very spend between$500-700 having the BillD and other mods done to a C-1 and C-11. Never regretted it. After these units were modded and refreshed, they outperformed several of the $1500-20OO preamps I compared them to.So it sounds better than your AR?ray
Not with my current speakers. I do like the Sonic hologram with other speakers that I have owned, but since that is not an option with SDA's...
And the Audio Research, is the first preamp that I have owned that I can honestly say I prefer over my BillD C-1 or C-11. And I had to spend five times the amount of money that I sold that c14 in order to find what I considered a legitimate step up.

The straight BillD mod is a refresh with some modification. It is well documented, extensively tested, praised by many, can be done by any handy person with little to no electronic knowledge or by your favorite technician for what I believe is a moderate price.Of course there are many other mods designed by others to suite your fancy. Your choice. So I don't understand your frustration.
I don't either. It's like thinking that if you had a beat up, 69 Camaro that you were lucky enough to buy for 1500 bucks and you thought hell, there is no way I'm going to spend five or $10,000 restoring it, because then it is still just a $1,500 car. That's certainly not the case. And it is not the case with this preamp either. You generally never get the money back out of something that you spend upgrading, modifying, or restoring it. But the value increase in a building modded C1 versus a stock one is a pretty substantial jump.
I sold my first BillD C-1that was completely redone by B-Man for $700 and i wish it had never done that.

I had Tidal for one month. After I looked up about half a dozen songs that weren't available, I decided it was not the format for me. I'm the same way with my car. If I want to listen to an entire CD, I'll just take CDs with me in the car, or I'll use an iPod or similar player. My whole interest in streaming music, is quick availability to stuff I don't own, or finding new music I'm not familiar with. The introduction to new music or various recordings of a particular song or one of the reasons I like Pandora so much. Most of Pandora's streaming is MP3. They don't use any lossless or high-resolution files. If I want to listen to an entire album, I will most likely either just play a CD or album. I like the way Pandora finds songs for me. But I would like to have a better quality streamHave you priced CD's lately? For 20 bucks a month, Tidal is the better way to go for me. Plus, I can't play vinyl in my car. -

I used Tidal for a free trial and I found that they really lacked a lot of the music I was looking for. I really enjoy Pandora. I was hoping that they either had, or were planning, a higher resolution format

Check into Bluesound players Wayne. I have a couple buddies that have them and they seem to be very pleased.
Does Pandora Plus have higher resolution audio, or is it just commercial-free?

Beautiful room! And you'll learn, although this is the Carversite, we are fans of audio gear from all across the street!

There aren't any shops that really specialize in the BillD modifications or the MKII amplifier modifications. The quality technicians that perform these mods are located here on this website.

Welcome to the site, John. Glad to have you!

Welcome, Brian!

This is true. There aren't too many studios out there that are producing analog masters.

Gary Clark Jr's cover of the Beatles "Come Together" is one of my favorites
