Great speakers, I have a set of usher x- 718 speakers stand mount they are still breaking in, only 20 hours on them.Bought new from dealer, they weight 30 lbs. each sound great now cant wait for them to break in. Beautiful finish and build quality. Wish these where closer, would be interested in them. Don't anybody say road trip, Nova Scotia, Canada to California is a bit much.

Hello, If you are close to a hobby shop check out the K& S brass stock , you can get solid brass stocks in 1/ 16 inch thickness by 1/4,3/8 or 1/2 inch wide also have copper available too. Might also check out Michael's craft stores.

Welcome Gary, this a very good site to learn about Carver equipment and all things audio. Good honest friendly people, no audio snobs hear. One thing they do love pictures. Again welcome. Wayne

No I have not tried any other tubes in the unit other than the 6N11 tubes that came with the board.Can you let me know how the sound differs with the tubes you mentioned

Thank you for your comments about the tube buffer. I made the unit up from an X10 board kit from Hong Kong and a 80va torrodal transformer from Maine. The cases I made from red oak and accented with purple heartwood. On the board I removed the RCA jacks and ps jack so that they could be hidden on the back of the case. Still waiting for 2 tube dampers to arrive to finish it off.

Thank you for the welcome. I have not bought the speakers yet as I have not found a local dealer, thats why I was trying to get a current review of them. The room is unfortunately all plaster walls, will try to get wife to allow some sof surface treatments And yes my 400a will probably get a recap and binder post upgrade soon, I will post pictures soon. Hello, New hear long time Carver owner, am looking for your thoughts on these speakers? Will be using a M400a amp with C2 pre, the room is 10 by 14 9 foot ceilings. I can't find any current review s for these speakers, can see review s from 2005,2006 but nothing newer. Is this because of limited distribution in North America? Thanks in advance. Am on several photo sites and this site seems to have very friendly and outgoing people, with no backbiting, just nice people wanting the best for Carver enthusiasts. Wayne
