Yes, I do love planars!  
 
It's a well written and honest white paper in my opinion-- much higher sensitivity and a far easier load than any ESL and way more accurate than conventional cone drivers.  And big planars just seem to have a special quality in the way that they couple to the air in the room. 
 
Magnetic planars have progressed so far now that I would say the only advantages ESL's still retain are even lower moving mass (lighter film diaphragm and no voice coil riding on it) and whereas most planar magnetics drive the diaphragm from one side only, most ESL's are fully symmetric push/pull drivers.       
 
BTW, there are more DIY'ers rolling their own planar magnetics these days using neo magnets... not an easy build though. ESL's are easier to DIY I think (the perf-metal types, that is).
