They are very similar to the Klipsch RF-3 II I used to have as mains in my theatre; decent for theatre, not fantastic for audio. I finally got my Cornwall II's out of the box and integrated into my system after we moved; the RF-3 II's are now part of my mk II listening system (where I listen to the mk II's after burn-in and prior to shipment).

They are very nice, don't get me wrong; it's just that my Cornwall II are significantly better soundstage and impact wise.

I had an entire RF-83 system & loved it (sold due to financial difficulties).  That said, for 2 channel listening, I prefer my AL-IIIs .  Speakers are a highly personal component.  If they sound good to you, go for it~

Well cornwalls are out , wife won't let them in the room , I'll give these a try , my old klipsh kg4 were not bad back in the day , hope these will be as good .My 1.5t was to much for them though , worked better with my celestion 442 with the 12" woofer ,

the amp was never to much for them , really controlled the woofer well . walls and floors were not safe around them !

If Klipsch is what you prefer then get some of the mainstays such as Rich said. I have seen Cornwalls and they are big and impressive sounding. I don't know what Heresys or even LaScalas go for nowadays but the thing is the horns require much less to drive them. As Rich says they also have the great stage presence (all of the older model Klipsch). Heresys are great and maybe less than Cornwalls, I dont know.

As you see, I am very biased to Klipsch........and Carver.........

I also would opt for Heresys or Fortes if the Cornwalls are too much.

well how about mordant short ms 908 , 4-8 ohms , would they be a better choice ? The other klipsh speakers are to big for the room , limited space and budget .

By the way the amp arrived in one piece , looks great can't wait to get a pre amp and speakers hooked up . any ideas on new preamps under $1000.00 that would be a good match for the amp ?

Depends on how you plan to use it exactly, but the C-19 would be an EXCELLENT preamp under $1000.00, if you can find one.

trying to get a c-26v right now on ebay , as for speakers going to use my klipsh kg-4 , found a passive rad for the back to replace ripped one .

Hope i win that carver pre amp ! really want to listen to that 500-t mkII !!

The C1 preamp is an excellent pre-amp for the money IMO.  Can usually find them on E-Bay or Craiglist.  I have had mine since 1985 and other then cleaning all the switches and controls just lately, it has never given me a moments problem.

I would like one with a working remote , a pain to get in the wheelchair every time I want to change

volume , switch source or something . That' is why I am looking at "newer" carver pre-amps . The 2 outputs for more than one amp and video are also a plus , might integrate with TV .

I have a Sunfire Symphonic Reference I use and like quite a bit.  It has a remote, is easy to use, the quality is high... I really don't have anything bad to say about it.  They can be found fairly regularly around $500, or a little less if your patient.  In the long run, this will be more reliable and less costly than going with an older tube amp.  Just another idea for you.  It would be nice if you could get an antracite preamp to match your amp, but I don't know if any of the Carver Anthracite Preamps have remotes.
