Gary Beyer 2
The rotary selector switch on my Carver C1 preamp has become increasingly problematic when switching to the Aux1 and Aux2 inputs. Usually I have to wiggle it back and forth a bit to get both L & R channels to work correctly. I have put up with it for years, but of course it has gotten worse to the point I need to do something. It seems as if the contacts are shifting internally and I've had thoughts of disassembling the switch to see what's going on inside, but with no replacement part available, I would be stuck if I ruined it. So... Has anyone else solved this problem? What did you do? I do have DeoxIT D5 contact cleaner, but I'm not sure if there are enough openings to allow it to penetrate sufficiently. I also realize it's likely a temporary fix at best. Gary
RobertR 847
Many a C-1 has had that problem, and had it fixed with some Deoxit or other such product. Before trying anything else, spray those contacts, then work the switch a bunch of times. If this fixes it, the cure should last for years.
